Post by Razzy »

i heard talk of special lightsaber crystals found only on the merchant in the yavin space station, but through a search of this forum, i didnt see anyone saying when he starts selling those. what event triggers the yavin merchant to sell the special lightsaber crystals? any help would be appreciated :)

It's there, if you search: Saber Crystals thread.

About 20,000 credits a piece. There are two. Start saving. ;)

Probably just a bug, can't really help you there!

Mantle of the Force (the best one) costs 25,000, and Heart of Guardian (still a very fine saber) costs 20,000. If you haven't got enough, make sure you complete all 3 tiers of the Tatooine swoop races, the Rodian at Yavin apparently pays a higher price for them! You should have more than enough loot at any rate.

Beat Suvam 10 times at Pazaak and he lowers his prices greatly. For me Mantle was 20k, and Heart was 16k.

First time through on PC, I didn't know about the special crystals. I still crushed Malak. Would have been easier with fancy crystals. I learned about them after I was already in the middle of the endgame (Starforge), almost to the last bosses (Bastila and then Malak). Then it was "dangit, now I'd have to pull up a save game from WAAAAY back and repeat all of this". So I skipped it. You don't need them to finish the game. At that point even with a wimpy Scoundrel-2 Consular-18 I was able to do the job without resorting to minefield "tricks".

Malak was just a straightforward "get a few swipes in and run like hell" chase.
