Experiment - Wizard Slayer/Mage
Neither do I. Neither do I... But I still do. I wonder if it had something to do with me losing my job?
Anyway I am thinking I should show some screenshots, but I do not know how to do this. I could use imageshack but they only allow 1024 kb and all the images are somewhere around 1400 kb.

Yeah CrownHead, I appreciate your stories of your odd dual-class.
It gave me the idea to try a second solo : a Wild Mage. It is quite cool... but very different from my first solo (Swashbuckler/Mage, basically a weaker FMT).
I may post my progress on a new thread, and how I deal with Wild Surges. Those can be either annoying (example : healing your opponents during a fight) or really funny (Especially polymorphs rolls).

Indeed a very fine journal. Next up for me is soloing an elven Cleric/Mage that I've imported from my Bg1 (he's a little overpowered due to tomes and the TotSC exp cap). I always liked the idea of a monster spellcaster with robe of vecna that just casts heal when his life is low. Maybe i'll write a journal as well?
You guys are my best friends, we've always been together, we're four of a kind laughing all day and palling away, we're best friends!

This thread rocks, keep the battle stories coming.

On a related subject I think the FMT is pretty boring as a solo character, it's just too straight forward plain. Stoneskin, backstab, bash to death... there's not nearly enough interesting tactics as an under powered class combination like this Wizard Slayer/Mage.
Convert them to Jpeg using Irfanview or a similar program and use photobucket.com to host them
Photobucket, they require an account now, don't they?
Anyway, instead of using any program you have to download use Paint. Take a screenshot and paste it into an empty window in paint. After it has been converted, and if it's still exceeding limit, then do some fance cutting

I would like some action shots And what stuff are you currently using? When you said wizard slayer I'd imagined katanas, celestial fury is kind of overpowered against mages sometimes

Sorry about not posting for so long. Now to continue from where I left off. (Spoilers)
ASYLUM
Took me less than half an hour, which is good cause that's all the time I had. I'll fill you in on some of the fights. Note: No screenshots for this part, most of the fights were too quick or boring to be worth the effort of putting up.
First of all I went to Brynnlaw. I decided I would get admitted into the Asylum as that's the funner way. After Irenicus found me I went into the dream. Bhaal was easy. just did Stoneskin and Mirror image repeatedly while macing him to (near) death. I also decided to sacrifice my wisdom, so it is now at 9. No Wish for me I suppose. On to the dungeon.
First area was easy, headed southwest to fight the Umber Hulks, one Death Spell took them all. Headed northeast to get the Bag of Holding and fight the Clay Golem. A bunch of skeletons and I hitting it was too much for it to handle, it was down within seconds. Grabbed the Bag of Holding and decided to move on to part 2.
Second area took no time. First I went to the kobolds. Defeated them very easily using five skeletons and and macing them, after which I grabbed the crystal. After this I went to the vampire, the only real challenge here was the Bone Golem and Greater Mummy waiting before him. But unfortunately for them I happen to have Mace of Disruption, so it only took one reload to kill the group. Dace was really really easy, I hit him once before he even got a swing in and he died. Using the hand and crystal I moved on to area 2.
Most of the enemies here were simple enough. Had a little trouble with the group of giant trolls and the spirit troll but casting about 5 fireballs killed them all after a few reloads. Minotaurs din't know what hit em. One Death Spell was all it took to kill a group. Using basic tactics of Fireballs and Deathspells I made my way to Bodhi who promptly ran away. Grabbed the two horns from the different rooms and opened the door. BUT, I decided it might be a good idea to go get the Boots o Speed. So nothing of interest happened along the way to get the boots except I leveled up to 15. This made me very happy as I would now be able to have the greater Animate Dead. After I got the boots I headed out of the gauntlet.
The fight with Irenicus was easy, but then again when is it not. The only thing I did differently than another game was I stuck around to fight the Murderers. They were no problem when I used my new improved Animate Dead. Headed back to Brynnlaw to get the horn so I could get off the damn island.
SAHUAGIN CITY
Hahaha. This was just funny. After agreeing to kill the prince for the king, I decided it might be more worthwhile to kill them all. So, using a couple hasted skeletons, I killed the king and his henchman.
The city was simple. I actually marched around with three or four hasted skeletons who would easily kill any Sahuagins in my way. The Sahuagins who shot at me would hit themselves as I havee the Reflection Shield. Didn't even have to rest. The funniest part was my Death Spell that killed eight rebels in one shot. Coincidentally the experience brought me to level 16.
The prince was the same story as the king. I attacked with my improved Animate Deads and he fell within seconds. After I had finished with him I headed down to the Underdark.

UNDERDARK
First thing I did was went to the deep gnomes who sell all the fancy scrolls, to whom I sold all that crap I got in the Asylum that I couldn't use and bought some nice scrolls. Next I went to the to the Imprisonment Machine.
All the enemies I fought who came out of the Machine were exceptionally easy, except for two who were just funny. The first was the Lich, who took no effort. I buffed myself for a tough battle, started the battle, and before his contingencies went up he was dead.
The next was the mage who I have had trouble with in the past. Didn't even buff myself for this one, just started attacking and didn't stop till he was dead.
After I was done with that I went to the deep gnome camp and talked to the mayor about his Balor problem. Went to where the Balor would be, summoned 4 skeletons and hasted them. They were able to kill the demon before it even killed one.
Next I headed to the silver dragon. After being changed into a drow I went to the city of Ust Natha and talked to Sola and began the quest to save Phaere from the Illithids. So I left the city and began to make my way to the bottom of the map where Sola would be. But, wouldn't you know it I was attacked by a group of adventurers.
The group was not very tough. All I did was buffed myself with some spells and sent a sequencer of three Fireballs into the middle of their group. After this I maced whoever survived. Among the survivors was Boz. Because I was attacking him his elemental hits weren't interrupting me, but it was still annoying. It took only a few recasts of Mirror Image to bring him down.
While heading down to where Sol was I encountered some Kuo-Toa (or whatever) who were easily taken down with one Death Spell. Then I found Sola.
Before talking to him I buffed myself and summoned five skeletons. After talking to Sola I hasted them--the skeletons and Sola--and stood back as far as I could without losing sight of Sola. After a few seconds the Illithids appeared. None of the Illithids attacked me thankfully enough, and because my skeletons were immune to their mind attacks they were dispatched very quickly. All I had to do was cast a Death Spell to kill the Umber Hulks who actually did stand a chance against my skeletons. After the fight was over Sola told me to make my way to Ust Natha at my own leisure. I figured since I had this much time and I was already right there I might as well massacre the Illithid city.

ILLITHID CITY
As soon as a took a step inside the place I was captured by the Illithids. The first arena battle was easy all I had to do was Death Spell. After I finished I rested and talked to the Githyanki. The battle with the Kuo-Toa was much the same as the first, and after they were dead I headed out the doors. The ogre was no problem just a few low level spells and macing took him down. Next I headed south toa group of two Illithids.
My basic tactic for Illithids was summon a crapload of skeletons, haste them and let them battle it out. The two I was just about to come to is a fine example of how well this tactic worked.
After killing those Illithids I headed north then east to the room where the Illithids keep respawning. Killed the Illithids and gathered some the juices from around the room.
After I finished in this room I went and freed the slaves. I got five control coolars from this. Went back to the room I was before, charmed a respawned Illithid and used him to oen the door further on.
Using skeletons I was able to get a pretty decent distance through the dungeon without resting before I hit a snag. In one of the rooms there was an Ulitharid. I figured he didn't have a chance, so I sent in my five skeletons. This was a mistake. The Ulitharid promptly killed four of my five skeletons and was quickly killing the last. During that time a summoned an Efreeti in the hopes it might help out a bit. Moving the skeleton away I was able to get the Ulitharid focused on my Efreeti. Now with the combined power of my two summons I was able to finally kill it.
After fighting the Ulitharid I needed more skeletons, but I didn't have any spells left, so I decided to rest. This was a mistake. Sola appeared next to me after I rested and told me I had been found out. Why? I have no idea, because what I remember him saying was that I could travel back to Ust Natha at my own leisure. But I wasn't about to backtrack that far into the game just so I would postpone my massacre of the drow city. So I went with it.
Getting to the Master brain was the same case as every other encounter. Along the way I leveled up to 17. Woohoo I got Abi Dalzims.
On to the Master Brain. I did have some of the potion that made me immune to psionics so the brain was not able to hurt me. It took one Death Spell to kill the Master Brain. And the Brain Goloems who came out after that seemed more interested in my skeleton than me so I killed them pretty quickly too.
After I was finished here I figured it was time for the drow to, you know, feel my unholy wrath and all that.

DROW CITY
I love this city! I basicly marched through contantly hasting my skeletons and drawing attacks from the drow to myself instead of the skeletons. I was immune to all attacks the drow tried to make at me. Any of the drow wizards were easily dispatched due to my spell failure penalty. The only trouble I had was at the temple of Lolth.
I couldn't bring my skeletons with me into the temple (unless I used that one trick, but I don't do those), so I left the city, rested and came back. No shame in that. The priests and guards inside proved to be a nuisance but were quickly dispatched by me and my continuous amount of skeleton summoning. The golem room was simple. I sent in my skeletons to draw the golems attacks, grabbed the eggs and high tailed it out of there without seeing if my skeletons were winning.
Now that I had the eggs it was time for me to leave the Underdark. After giving the eggs back to the silver dragon she brought me up to the doorway to the surface. (NOTE: I tried using a control collar on her to see if I could use her as a sacrifice in the other part of that area, but after she saved about twenty times in a row I gave up.) The fights up to the serface were all basic summoning attacking and Death Spelling the lesser creature tactics. After a few battles I had made it out of the Underdark. For now. The experience from this got me to level 18, and a high level ability which I chose to be Improved Alacrity. Sadly enough, this spell is a lot less useful if you don't have Timestop memorized.
DRIZZT AND HIS BUDDIES
You know, this group can be quite annoying.
But with a control collar on Drizzt it can be pretty hilarious!
After using Drizzt to kill all his friends it was a simple matter of switching his weapons to fists and and attacking him. Without his swords he didn't stand a chance. I couldn't use basicly anything his group dropped, save for that cool bow that one woman drops. After I killed them I went to the Adventures Mart and sold just about everything they owned (along with all the loot from the Underdark) which got me quite a lot of gold. Used some of the money to buy some level nine scrolls and the Helm of Brilliance.
I didn't want to kill Bodhi just yet as I was having fun using the leftover control collars on tough enemies. I figured that using a control collar could make a lot of those really really tough battles hidden around the city really really funny.
TWISTED RUNE
Bwahaha. I don't even need a whole paragraph to explain what happened here. Collar on Shangalar. Shangalar kills his buddies. I exhaust Shangalars spells. I kill him in one hit with my mace. I level up to 19 (learn dark planatar). I leave.
THE CURRENT VERDICT
This is shaping up to be quite possibly the most diverse class I've played. Any encounter can be beaten with proper planning.
WHAT'S NEXT
Well, I think I'll kill Bodhi. But then I'll go finish all the major sidequests like Kangaax and Firkraag. Then I think I'll go back to the Underdark for one final showdown with the Beholders. After that I don't know.
OTHER NOTES
No more collars! I find them very funny but now that I think about it it is very cheesy. So never again.
To Mazeh: I believe I've stated previously what equipment I'm using but I suppose I'll tell you again.
Armor - Elven Chain+1
Helmet - Helm of Brilliance
Boots - Boots of Speed
Shield - Reflection Shield
Weapons - Mace of Disruption+2 and normal mace (for those who are protected from magic)
To Deadalready: What? What solo section? Explain.
EDIT: Ohh, now I know what your talking about. The strategy guides section right?
AND FINALLY
Yet again I'm sorry I haven't posted for so long, and this post will probably be extremely long cause of all the info. I will try not to do that anymore. I'll keep you guys posted.

Interesting. I would never have though about such cheesy collar stratetic. Very amusing. And I MUST say, that those screenshots are MUCH better, I really love that screenshot with the 3 fireballs .

Interesting that Adalon can save against the control collars, still since I've never actually tried it for myself it's nice to know that it may be just a rumour.

You should consider writing up a section for the solo guides, your story is pretty damn cool and unique to boot.
Thanks for sharing everything, keep the cool tactics coming.

My opinion
Well, i think it's interesting to hear, that a class such as Wizardslayer actually can be usefull. Though it sounds pretty much like it's your mage-class that keeps you going. The character Wizard Slayer/Mage doesn't sound very interesting to me, even though the experiment is funny.
At which level did you dual-class? I couldn't find it in any of the threads. (im probably blind )
