It's a very different kind of game. It is far, far less linear--and if you buy the PC version, you can add on quest mods that more than treble the length. NPCs are generally less interesting, but the first person view is striking in its beauty. Classes don't really apply: you start with attributes and skills that can be worked up, and you can configure whatever combination of skills you want to emphasize, anyway.

so u don't start as a class but u develop your char. by practicing skills?
and can u acquire new skills? or doe u have all skills and when u lvl up u can put points in those skills?
i love the idea to wander in a inmense world becomming more powerfull and getting more items and doing a lot of quests.

Well the way skills work is that there's 30 or so skills which fall under the categories of the warrior, mage, and thief. You can mix and match which skills you want, choose from a preconfigured "class", or answer a series of questions to determine which class would best suit you. You have 5 major and 5 minor skills, and to go up one in your characters level you have to gain a total of ten points in your major and minor skills. And your skills go up simply by using them. The more you use a skill the faster you'll earn points in that discipline. And when you level up, depending on which skills you gained points in that level you'll be able to put points into 3 of 8 attributes: strength, intelligence, willpower, agility, speed, endurance, personality, and luck (each skill has a corresponding governing attribute). Oh yea, and there there's health, magicka and fatigue which go up each level according to their governing stats. And in case you hadn't noticed yet there's no experience points.
And so far for me it's not about getting the most items because one can only carry so much. It's about using the same items i've had all along more efficiently. Well that goes without saying because I'm playing a thief type. A warrior type would be more along the lines of what your drooling about.
So go out and buy the game. It's been out long enough that it's cheap. And let me tell you it was worth the $18 to get a used Game of The Year edition with all of the expansions.

ok so u can be a little bit of everything?
i like thiefs a lot as well as being able to cast spells but in other games there attack and hitpoints are rather weak compared to fighterclasses so can also give them some points in fighter skills to make them better ad those abbilities or those the choise for one type of skill means u can't use others?
btw there is a main quest in the game right? or is it just a game u can wander arround in for ages and never really be finished?? (wich isn't a bad thing knowing there are a lot of mods that make the game longlasting)

There is a main quest, but I've been playing for a few days now and have only just started the main quest. And judging by what I've read here and how the prefab classes are setup I'd deem it unwise to try and be a fighter, thief, and mage all in one. You don't wanna spread yourself too thin being a jack of all trades but a master of none. I wouldn't think you'd get to far that way.
I forgot a few things about character creation. You get to choose two favorite atributes which you start off with bonuses in, and you get to chose a birth sign, which could grant special abilities, bonuses, or both. And there are 10 races to choose from with male female options for both and customizable facial characteristics. that should cover it. Now go out and buy it so you can see for yourself.

You don't have to try the main quest until you want to--whenever that may be. In the meantime, there's a huge amount of area to explore, with a couple of hundred caves, shrines, abandoned factories and the like to explore. Plenty of cities, too.

The Morrowind Game of the Year edition (which includes Tribunal and Bloodmoon) is selling for $20 used up on Amazon, so you may want to take that into consideration. Personally I think the expansions do add quite a bit to the game.

A number of really good mods do need Bloodmoon and Tribunal. Also, having the expansions installed makes the journal and in-game maps easier to use.
I bought Morrowind GOTY about a year ago, and even without including mods I still have lots to explore.
Spending the extra on the Game of the Year edition is *well* worth it. For one... Bloodmoon is absolutely beautiful

I didn't buy GOTY until I had been playing the regular game for a few months. That's really because I didn't know there was a GOTY, and as soon as I found out I bought it. If you do get the expansions, which are worth the money, then play the regular game for a while and get experienced before taking on Tribunal and Bloodmoon. Be wary, Morrowind might suck you in and cause a minor addiction. I found it a rather enjoyable addiction myself, but it could start to take up a large amount of your time. Buy it none the less.
