is cleave bugged?
well if you drop an opponent you get a quick attack on a nearby opponent 1 time per round. and with great cleave you can do it as many times as you like. i have noticed that with my monk it works just fine and when sorounded by goblins he can wipe em out pretty quick, btw it looks really cool with all the body parts flying around so fast. however, with my fighter and my fighter/barbarian it does not work this way, in fact it does not seem to work at all. is it because they are using 2-handed weapons? or is it because they are slower then the monk?
"War does not determine who is right, it determines who is left"
I am not sure.. perhaps you lack the weapons that deal enough damage? Cleave and Great Cleave is only (supposed to be) activated when you manage to drop/kill an opponent. Meaning that you can only get a 2nd cleave, if you kill with your 1st cleave. Monks, having increasing damage di(c)e by levels, means a potential damage equal to a two-handed weapon, with the number of attacks and chance to hit surpassing two-weapon fighting.
I cannot claim that it is not bugged, but I have noticed that my dwarven and human Clerics (in the latest romp) get Cleave attacks, from the combat messages now and again. So Cleave at least does work, for other classes. Never read about it ever being said to be buggy before.

Wait, what's the benefit of Greater Cleave over normal Cleave?
Any man who asks for greater authority does not deserve to have it.

Washing your hands is important if you cook your breakfast.
With normal cleave you get an extra attack once per round, with the great one unlimited extra attacks (as long as the enemies go down in one hit )

Sorry, I check these forums around 3AM right after working, so I'm not always awake. I'm not sure I've actually seen Greater Cleave ever work effectively. I normally see "PC gets extra attack from Cleave" but nothing from Greater Cleave...and yes, I'm sure the character has it. Huge barbarian with enormous stength and a greataxe.

@Erenor,
If you get a greater cleave hit, it does not say "PC gets extra attack from Greater Cleave", it just says the same thing. Also, as others have said, in order for greater cleave to work, you have to have atleast 3 baddies w/in reach. The first kill is normal kill, second kill is cleave and third + would be greater cleave, but it will only work if each hit is a kill and targets are w/in reach.

IMHO, GC is only useful in the Prologue and maybe Chapter 1. After that it's pretty much useless unless you've got spellcasters that can cast area spells enough to almost kill the monsters around your character. I've really only experienced GC against goblins in Targos. I had a fighter with 18 strength and 2 handed axe get surrounded by goblins in the cave and then he just went on a killing spree. It does look cool to watch 3 or 4 goblins get hacked to death in a row.
Great Cleave need not only work with goblins and the like. Even tougher foes can make the feat whorth while. Medium powered foes can be weakened with a Fireball, and since you can only cast one spell in a round, your warrior wirh Great Cleave can then wade in on the weakened and "Almost Dead" targets and still gain the benefits within the round, dropping them quickly.
Of course, the playing style varies among people, and hence the utility of a feat is questionable upon oneself.... some may like it, some may not.
