I too have a hard time playing as DS. I really get into it while playing, but then I'm irritable for the rest of the day. Long term effects?!

I've only played KOTORII as a Jedi Master, but I want to play as the Weapon Master next. Being a JM is like being a wizard or archer in any other RPG... stand back and shoot. I like to get into the fray, so being a Weapon Master should be sweet! Besides, I loved the Force Jump ability in KOTOR1 jumping/killing from nme to nme.

Dark side makes easy game even more easier. I've finished game as a Marauder and I don't feel bad for my actions. :D Imagine: <an overpowering sith marauder is standing in front of a man. That guy just says: what happened to your face?> There is no respect for the stronger so I can crush stupid creature's skull without doubt. :)

Light side makes game more like a movie (I like Kotor I end). :p
i only play good....cause i cant be evil in games i feel bad.
i wish it was like that in real life.
You know it's weird, but I do, too, sometimes. Like in Age of Empires games, I used to frown on hunting the animals (even though I'm an avid carnivore). And I try to do good things unless I'm hellbent on being evil (which I am in my new game of this). But just about everything I did in KotOR with Revan that flowed with how I feel in real life made me darker, and I wound up disagreeing with Kreia a lot just because I knew it was what *I* would think/do, and she would belittle me for it.

But no matter which side I *go* with, I always use dark side powers. I use Force Storm abundantly, as well as Life Drain or whatever that power's called, but it's my interactions with people that decide if I'm light or dark; I find the so-called penalty for using dark side powers when you're a light sider isn't anything to worry about.
General: "Those aren't ideas; those are special effects."
Michael Bay: "I don't understand the difference."
Every time you get influence with someone, their alignment shifts towards yours. Unfortunately, while this is easy to do when playing Light Side (because almost all potential jedi NPC influence are based on light side dialouges/actions), when you are playing Dark Side, there are problems.

If you really want an NPC to be a dark jedi, you'll need to sacrifice some of your own DS points by doing good deeds when they are in your party. Alternatively, you can try exhausting the dialouge options with the NPC, but: 1. not all NPCs can be influenced till the "make jedi" point simply by dialouge, 2. even some dialouge options with influence give you LS points.

A good tactic is to leave "random killings" that are part of a side quest and give you DS till the end and finish them up after getting desired NPCs to be dark jedis. This way to you DS point reserves to get you back to mastery when you have done good deeds to impress your followers.
no, no, no!

ok, people, listen up...

oy...

ok, you unlock dialog and npc-jedi conversion by having

HIGH OR LOW INFLUENCE!

what that means is if you're a right bastard, and do the things that produce negative influence, the high negative influence you have works EXACTLY THE SAME AS HIGH POSITIVE INFLUENCE...

ok, its harder to get high neg influence with handmaiden, etc...but certainly possible...

:p :p :p
They call me Darth...

Does this mean T3 will let the exile perform all its upgrades with low influence too?

I had found light side easier in KOTOR I, but now the chance of save has increased for stasis field, and without storm and other damaging force powers, battles tend to take a lot longer.
I love blood and violence!

I prefer LS also. The only benefits for DS are more creds and the game is tons easier and goes a ton faster. So if your going to play LS dont fall in love with your creds.

The story, such as it is favours the dark side. It just makes a little more sense.

*spoiler*
As a light side character you travel to each planet and 'rescue' the scattered remnants of the Jedi Council. Just about every one you save comments on how light sided you are, offers some general ego stroking and praise. Then they admit regret over their handling of your exile and teach you a force ability, willingly making you stronger... But when they are all finally together again, they suddenly about face and try to exile you once again, its as though they never said what they said when alone and offer little in the way of explanation.

I prefer LS. I played through as a dual-wield dual-saber LS Consular/Master and had all of my half-Jedi at Light Mastery along with me. That was kinda cool. With a massive Wisdom I had ~600 Force Points and with a massive Charisma I could throw Force Storm with impunity. That made the whole endgame a joke, bosses included, especially with both sabers buffed strongly (Master Speed, Master Flurry, ~100pts/HIT with main hand = disgusting damage). So I don't follow along with these LS-vs-DS excuses of "gotta be DS to throw the mass-damage stuff" or "gotta be LS to get the good buffs". Thats just not true. Build up a decent WIS for plenty of FP and maybe even a decent CHA and you can wield force powers with impunity. Build up a high enough WIS and you can throw Stasis or Wave against even the toughest bosses with success every time.

Sion: "Die!"
Me: Force Wave (~50), Force Storm (~150), Force Wave, Force Storm
Sion: "I give up!"

Room full of Sith: "Die!"
Me: Force Wave, Force Storm, Force Wave, Force Storm
Room full of bodies: "Ugh!"

Traya: "Die!"
Me: Force Wave, Force Storm, Force Wave, Force Storm
Traya: "I give up!"

Throughout the game I found that having a decent CHA and plenty of Persuade was the most rewarding. That offered a lot of conversation options to me. But I also noted that almost all of the same conversation options became available with a high Awareness, INT, or sometimes with a little of another skill. So there are multiple ways to thread through most of the conversations. I never once found a use for any powers from the Force Persuade line as a LSer, when simple Persuade would do the trick (Persuade >20, CHA >20).

Dark side is fun for the "kill everything" attitude but light side offers better dialogue and character interaction...but seriously...do both at least one ...darkside in kotor2 is easier for normal fights but until force crush boss fights are much harder unless you plan on training some light side powers...the 3 jedi masters are pretty damn annoying...especially the first one you fight since you are still developing at that point...sory but a lightsider is just cheap especially weapon master...force enlightenment + statis field + double-bladed lightsaber is just WAY to easy...a friend of mine on a jedi master got his DC so high Sion had a 0% chance to resist statis field...gimme a break

light side chars are better in the end game but a lot harder t the start it is just like they say the dark side is the quick and easy path but the light side down the road is far strongerand plus what are you complaining about a sith lord using force lightning all he has to do is insanity force lightning he doesn't even need to cast insanity can just stand back and shoot lightning mean while jedi has to cast stasis/ force wave then hack and slash the guy ;) jedi master was my fav char to date tho force persuade was so much fun "You will forget ever meating me" "i don't even remeber why i am talking to you" lol manipulation is so much more fun then fighting the stupid gaurds lol

Darkside all the way XD

S'all about manipulation, b'sides, you earn more money in the path towards the darkside(like on nar shadaa, at the swoop race, you can force persuade the guy to give all the money or wtvr). And also, insanity is the darkside version of stasis field, and death field is an alternative to cure, only does less healing. Both also have their perks with lightsabers too. It's not about which is more powerful, cuz class would determine that more than the dark or light side, I think, as with a high wisdom, you'd have a massive pool of force points anyways, and opposite side force points cost increase won't even mean a thing. Wtvr, just my opinion.
You have a point - Dark Side edges it in taking out large groups, but one-on-one light-side owns in my opinion, superb buffing powers, they can last it out in the larger battles but its only toe-to-toe they really show their stuff.
Force Crush anyone?? Even if they have force resistance, force breach deals with that. Even if you manage to save (unlikley given force breach removes all buffs. and almost impossible to save with base saving throw...although i believe a natural roll of 20 ALWAYS succeeds....may have changed in this game) you still take half damage and are held.

I'm afraid dark side still has it for one on one.

i usually play light side first, just to get a basic understanding of the plot On the second time through i will play Dark because i just cant help but laugh at some of the threat options in dialouge.
Revan was power. It was like staring into the heart of the Force. Even then, you could see the Jedi he would slay etched on his soul.

Played both games through LS all the way and tried to do all of the sidequests and other little things. Went back to do DS all the way through both, and halfway through KOTOR1 as DS the game was just a monotonous blurr of killing everything the game would let me kill, and being and complete punk to everybody else. I even got bored listening to my do-gooder allies complain about my actions. Although Jolee's "picking the legs off an insect" comment was pretty funny the FIRST time I heard it.

You definately level a lot of faster as DS. That DS run through KOTOR1, I was already capped at lvl20 and I hadn't even finished the 3rd Star Map planet. All of my posse has since hit 20, and they were ALL back at 17/18 when I hit 20.

I'm already plotting out a DS run through KOTOR2 and planning to hit that lvl50 mark to see how tough the opposition becomes by the end. Maybe the Darths will actually put up a fight for me. Probably not when I'll be throwing a thermonuclear Force Storm for "OMG is that for real" damage.

Definately LS if you want to explore the sidequests and dialogue options and DS if you just want Hackmaster Jedi. But LS can hit lvl50 just as easily as DS. I fought Hsss on Korriban with a LS Jedi Master until I was bored and never once worried about running out of FP. They were, for me, easy kills for easy XP.

first of all: the game is 3 times easier than kotor1 and only an idiot has problems in combat - the game creates stronger opponents as you gain exp - example: use cheats at perragus to get to lvl 50 (max lvl) and when u switch to t3m4 you wont be able to kill anything cuz t3m4 will be lvl 2-3 and mining droids will have 200 or 300 hp (that means that u can go to whatever planet first or last - the opposition will always be strong enough)

second: u all talk alot about force crush - why? if a character has enough wisdom and charisma modifiers bosses wont be able to resist force kill (choking) which deals 50% of max enemy hp and immobilises enemies or even more dmg if u use force potency which means that darth Traya 2nd round with 1000-1100 hp and anyone else dies if u use force kill twice!

third: I don`t like how some dark side shifts are made - it`fun to threat that duros on Telos to give you his droid credentials rather than selling half of your equipment to pay him and to force persuade some exchange thugs on NS to jump into the central (bottomless) pit.... but when you play as a dark one u play the entire game like a mindless idiot who threathens and kills everyone!

fourth: if someone knows how to reach lvl 50 by not using cheats pls enlighten me! I cleaned all the planets thoroughly and reached max lvl 27 or 28 (i dont remember) and I really tried not to miss a single kill! maybe there is a bug somwhere that makes creatures reappear?

oh yes - I almost forgot - dark side is stronger! force kill + force breach + plague ownes and it was alot of fun for me to play as a sithlord - you dont even need a lightsaber since you can deflect blaster fire with your bare hands :D , but if you really wanna explore the game play LS

PS. I dont usually write so long replies so sry if i was a bit boring...

Please watch the language. People can experience problems with combat in such games withouth being "idiots".
Just because you and others didn't have problems, doesn't mean others can't experience it.
