Actually, of all consoles, it's the slowest off the jump.

The Xbox is a system where the owners have this idea that their way of reasoning lies in 'Look what we can do'. All the games boast great graphics, hands down some of the best for a console. The thing is, though, many, many of those games lack substance. It's because of this that Microsoft is not getting the big RPG develpers on side (Capcom, Squaresoft (I still refuse to recognize Enix)). Without those develpers, Xbox won't get the RPG community. Bioware, and Obsidian, along with Molyneaux's Fable, there has been some attempts to get the market, but it's shown that the majority of Xbox gamers don't want deep, intriguing story. They want fast action, good graphics, and a lot of action. That much can be seen in their dominant game genres.

Everybody is making fair points and all, , but the point of this thread was simply to raise awareness of the situation at hand, frankly if you're going to come on here and slate the idea, i dont want to hear about it. Everybody is entitled to there own opinion and this is mine. If you dont like it. . . dont sign the petition, its as simple as that.

But anyway, cheers to the people who have (and will, hopefully) sign it, wether for good or for bad, its giving the issue more publicity.

Like I said, I have no problem with your goals, I'm just making sure you know as much as you can before going through with it ;)

I personally don't sign petitions, whether I agree with them or not, but I wish you luck with yours.
Actually, of all consoles, it's the slowest off the jump.
As other's pointed out, both Nintendo and Sony started out a lot earlier and had a big group hardcore gamers for both console's. The competition was strangled from the start and the XboX didn't have anywhere to go, no wonder they had the slowest start.

Well, using that logic, Dreamcast should've wiped the floor with the Playstation units ;)

The simple fact of the matter is, and if this particular line of discussion continues, I'm going to spilt the threads, is that the Xbox doesn't have the developer/producer support that both Nintendo and Playstation has. Without theat sort of backing, the system itself cannot compete on the market as effectively.

If it weren't for Halo being a Xbox exclusive, all figures were showing the Xbox going belly up within the first year or two. Halo saved it, and to be quite blunt about it, Halo 2 gave it a small shot in the arm.

Add to the fact that the Xbox console, come this summer, will no longer be produced, it's just another sign of the lack of a following it's received.

Just a note, though, the reason behind the Xbox no longer being produced, is that the Xbox 360 is slated for release in the next year or so, and as such, Microsoft is delegating the majority of the Xbox funds over to the next generation console.
