Wizard or Sorceror?

Wizard or Sorceror?
What one would you chose? What one do you think is the best? Also, What is a good multiclass option to help them survive longer? (I got both addons. And please dont come here explaning the diference between Wizard and Sorceror cus I already know that)
W has much less cheese factor and more versatility.
S has tons of cheese factor, but is a walking artillery piece, esp. once you get to level 9 or so--just stand far away and begin dropping bombs.
if you like nuance and whatever limited role-playing is available in NWN, go with W; if you like savagely slaughtering stuff and laughing at how silly it is, go with S.

i experimented with taking one lvl of Ftr - to get good starting hp and all the wepaon profs; also tried to take every 4th lvl after that in Rog, to access those abilities. thing is, the hack-and-slash nature of the game kinda force the S to pick (for its limited spell slots) those spells that just kill stuff, and you kinda want to get to the 8th and 9th lvl spells, so much multiclassing, at least for NWN proper, is counterproductive.

it depends. the wizard will access a lot more of spells than the sorcerer, but are again(in my opinion) weaker. so if you like roleplaying and exploring spells and such, go for wizard. if you like sticking to the powerfull spells and blast away every encounter, go for sorcerer
(you can still roleplay with a sorcerer, and "powergame" with a wizards..)

I don't think people can say that the sorcerer is more powerful than the wizard because they get more spells per day etc. It all depends on the player, since a sorcerer can't beat the wizard if the sorcerer's player is a complete noob. But that don't belong into the discussion. And I have no problem of blasting everything away as a wizard, because both the wizard and the sorcerer get the same spells. And nothing stops the wizard from selecting the same spellls over and over again.
But Grimar is right. A wizard can powergame and a sorcerer can role play through the game.

My big thing with Wizards and Sorcerers are this.
1. The versatility of the Sorcerer, in the sense of being able to choose what to cast on the fly, rather than picking and choosing ahead of time what spells to have.
2. The skill point bonus you get with the Wizard. If I go Wizard, eventually I will have a huge amount of skill points building up. For some builds I use, those are quite handy. Even though I'd prefer more spells and the ability to use them in any combination I'd want as a sorcerer, sometimes it's better to have all of those skill points. Rogue/Wizard combo is a good example of this, or Monk/Wizard although thats a lot more tricky to pull off in a decent manner.

I forgot the bonus feats. Those are a big plus for wizards. Things tend to even out as you get into epic levels between the classes with feats, but a wizard will still have those 4 bonus feats (+scribe scroll) from levels 1-20.
I personally tend to do more killing whatever moves than talking, so Charisma isn't so useful to me as Intelligence unless I make a character needing that attribute. You do find a lot of cloaks with a Charisma bonus though.

If what you are looking for is a mindless artillery platform, there should be no question that post lvl 19 the sorceror is superior (this is a view shared by most powergamers, including myself). Even if the wizard was to devote all his/her spells towards a single spell, that wizard would have fewer spells and less versatility.
Not only this but the almost-pure sorceror has one of the best multiclassing options availible, as single level (or so) in Paladin. An excellent example as to why Charisma > Intell.

If everyone says that sorcerer is so much stronger, how come I think this game was supposed to be ballanced? Did the developers fail in balancing it?

the wizard has many good features when it comes to RPing, and some less when it comes to powergaming.
the sorcerer has many good features when it comes to blasting stuff, and some less when it comes to RPing.
still, the wizard can be powerfull, and the sorcerer RP able. But it is more powerfull with more spells a day, and the freedom to chose which spell to cast without having it prepeared. But this is my opinion, and some may disagree...!

in many respects they did fail to balance sorc & wizard.
otoh sorc and wizard were not meant to be equals at every level - one will always be "better" than the other early game it's the wizard, later it's the sorc.
further in a pen & paper world - the wizards spell selection is a major plus, however for most intents in nwn there are a few power spells at each level and the sorc can choose between them w/ the speed of thought.

Wizards in Team Games
I find that wizards really show their stengths when your playing a game where you have a couple of allies and thus a couple of familiars/animal companions. The wizard can really act much more as support for the other characters and netralizing an enemy spellcaster. In combination with scribe scroll, you can go into a battle with Mass Haste/Bull's Strength/Endurance to keep your allies buff and you can use spells like Great Thunderclap and Mass Charm stun the enemy.
A sorcerer is much more the magic equivalent of a gun -- they can cause a lot of damage while they still have ammo, but once they run out, they are pretty useless.

I always liked sorcerers more than wizards... not just because they are considered more powerful (though you can beg to differ).
For people who have said they are mostly for slaughter; that's not true. When I played the game, sorcerers (since they have a high charisma) always get interesting conversations depending on who you are talking to.
As for multiclassing... I would try rogue. I try to have a rather high dex score anyhow and it would be convenient to have with a rogue. Then again, I only use rogues for locks and traps and a sorcerer can easily get around that anyhow. I don't like to multiclass with sorcerers though so -shrug-

For roleplaying I don't really care either way - both can be roleplayed with great fun and a great variaty(sp?).
For the game (NwN, not user modules), my preference is Sorcerers simply because they don't need to memorize spells and I find in the original game that skillpoints have less of a consequence

I think the problem with it is that sorcerer's are meant to be the on-the-fly type of caster. Wizards on the other hand, are to be researching, making scrolls and wands, learning better ways to cast those spells they know.
Taking a wizard and sorcerer straight out with nothing, chances are the sorcerer is better everytime for the sheer flexibilty they have.
Now, a fully prepared wizard who's planned for a specific situation, with access to any spell, and numerous ways to improve or modify those spells, and easily creating magic items for the purposes needed. That is a whole different ball game than a wizard hastily thrust into a situation.
For RP purposes, I prefer the wizard. I just like having that insane intelligence bonus to skill points and suddenly dropping them all into tumble or discipline so I can boost my armor class and make it difficult for those pesky warriors to knock me down.

Contrary to the earlier posts, i myself, although i have only just start playing, like playing as sorceror. This is mainly due to the number of attack spells i am able to cast in battle. Although a wizard may know more spells and be more 'malleable', i prefer being an artillery with my familiar, summon creature and hechmen attack and distract them while i cast spells on the enemy.
