Kensai - All the best and worst

Post by Ajantis »

I've been using a half-orc kensai.
strength 19
dexirity 18
constitution 19
inteligence 8
wisdom 8
charisma 16

main hand weapon: Celestial Fury (proficiency +++)
off hand weapon: Daystar (proficiency ++++)
two weapon style (+++)

but he's still... sucks. The best armor class I could make for him is just about -2. But he's really powerfull, none of my enemy can stand longer that 3 rounds, but my kensai have to sacrify himself as well(loosing tons of hit points in *every* battle). So I just use my druid and cleric casting barskin on him, but sometimes I just... forgot... Anyone has better idea to make a kensai a bit better? I really like his 2 weapon style's damage, each hand cause about 20+ damage!!

Didn't you find the shield amulet at De'Arnise keep?

Barkskin is very clever to use with a kensai, though Ghost and Spirit armour from the mages are better in my opinion (since they last a lot longer). There are a lot of items in the game that gives you bonus to your AC. Rings of protection, the Dusty Rose Ioun stone, the cloak of sewers (wich has the added benefit of a very rapid regeneration in troll form), Ring of Gaxx of course and boots of phasing (wich you can only get if your protagonist is a druid though).

The amulet of shielding is even better (You get it from a chest in D'Arnise hold) since it lets you lower your ac by 6 for a pretty long time. Potions of defence and invulnerability are also very good to use.

But the perhaps easiest way to use your kensai is to have a tank character with a high armour class that gets the monsters attention first, I use jaheira for this since she's the most durable and bravest of the whole lot of the NPcs, and then swoop in with your Kensai to kill the monsters off.

That's all the advice I can give.
