Ultimate Powergaming Party, I don't know what the "J" is for...

Some people decided to create the best and most powerful party ever, so they tried different combination of classes and races and stuff... The result is in Egervari's Guide, and you can read some more info about it in the thread I linked to in my previous post.

Oh. That would explain why I didn't know what it was. A powergamer is not me.

I didn't like it either. Well, I have to admit that I have used several usedful advices from there, but I don't like the idea of the UPP... I'd rather focus on roleplaying. Anyway, they have done a very good job and I'm sure helped a lot of players everywhere in the world :)

ok for the last time "J" in the JUPP is for Jukka. Jukka is a finnish name. I know cause I'm from finland! :D and it says on the first line of the JUPP: Jukka's Ultimate Powergaming Party. Please read it before you judge it. I played the game with all of those 3 parties that were in JUPP. I tried UPP party but it was a lot worse than the ones in JUPP. I've got to say that I really had a good time with those parties. OK the game was a bit easy on normal with them but now I'm half way trough HOF with them and things are getting a bit harder (now I must do all the buffs). I have not advanced with them in a while cause I decided to play Fallout 1 and 2 trough again :D but soon I will finish and then I will report how it went.

I wasn't judging them. I just don't powergame. I enjoy these games for the plot, not for how difficult they are.

Hey TK, long time no see :)

No offense meant. I'm with Armant, I don't like powergaming, I don't think RPGs are for that! Anyway, despite of this opinion, Egervari's Guide DID help me a lot! Even if you don't create that (or a similar) party, it gives you a lot of hint on how to build a character and what scores/feats are the most effective - which can be very useful even if you're roleplaying. :)

I guess I get to third this idea. Seeing as RPG means role playing game, I figure it is meant to roleplay in. It's more fun that way, otherwise you just slaughter people and critters...no fun there...well, not too much fun anyway ;)

Granted, it is more fun to win than to lose, but I like to be challenged without the encounters being ridiculous complicated, as (I assume) they are in HoF.

I like how the powergaming guides clarify party roles and general stratigies. You can go about the game emphasizing different fighting styles and it is fun to explore them all.

These guides have helped me realize that a lot of classes and spells are more powerful that I would have first believed.

Oh, certainly the guides are helpful. I guess my approach is to not focus on powergaming, min-maxing, or whatever else. I'm obviously going to try to make effective characters, but I add aesthetic flair as well. I'm perfectly content to make a fighter with less than 18 Strength, but I realize that a fighter with too low a Strength is near useless.

hehee.. I'm back again :D well actually I didn't go anywhere.. just been reading post without putting comments on the. But anywhays.. I don't mind powergaming cause I think in these games the plotline carries the whole game so strongly, that the fact that you are not making a character in roleplay terms is still not focusing the game too much on just killing. In BG2 I didn't mind what my character was like cause the plot was so cool. But that's just my point of view. If you want to try out as strong characters as possible to get trough HoF, you should try JUPP.

Yeah, HoF is a different case, you really need to prepare for that. That's basically powergamers' heaven :D

.

IMHO IWD2 is one of the most typical powergaming RPGs - very linear, less story, no interaction between PCs - so powergaming doesn't kill that much in IWD2!
