I am curious - will Yoshimo betray you even if you don't take him to Spellhold? I never had a chance to find out - always kept him within my party.

When you go to Spellhold without him, Jon says "I don't see Yoshimo amongst your number, did you discover he was a traitor", or something along those lines.

Then, when you go to the same area that has Yoshimo, such as the Copper Coronet, it displays the message "Yoshimo Dies", and all that is left is his dead body, to prevent you from getting him back.
In memorian: Fiona; Ravager; Lestat; Phreddie; and all of those from the 1500 incident. Lest we forget.

Yeah, like Venom says, he's gone no matter what; he was under a geas spell, so there was really no hope for him. There is some excellent banter between Yoshi and Haer'Dalis before spellhold though- Dalis talking about how he sees through the performance, Yoshimo playing dumb, etc.
