can somebody tell me how much you need to upgrade your strength skill when you fist try and pull the sword from the stone. I'm gonna run there at the beginning try and pull it out then upgrade my strength to the required skill level and get the sword at the begining. So can you help a new kid here?

Easy enough.
After the first time you try, you'll need to increase your physique by 5, your health by 2, and your toughness by 3. If you're physical stats are already fairly high, then maxing them out will allow you to pull the sword as well.
Can you actually go there at the beginning of the game? I didn't think the Witchwood Cullis Gate became available until later in the game.
