Defeating the 2 dragons! (Spoilers)
Defeating the 2 dragons! (Spoilers)
Well... I made my way to the lair and the 2 dragons that await you... they took a little bit to notice me, but I saw them form further as they had auras around them and they were just too big to be anything else but dragons. So I jumped back to Tyr`s temple, paused the game, and checked the walktrhough to see if there was any surprise I should expect... meaning: Should I save my game right now?
So I read of how difficult it was to defeat this dragons, especially if you are using melee weapons, and my greatsword with fire damage was not precisely the best weapon against a dragon now, was it?... So I run to Eldora`s and bought some bull strength and got some barkskin from the druid next to the tree. Saved the game, changed my haste boots for the dragon slippers, and went in, expecting the dragons to be where I left them... but they were waiting for me (both of them) right on top of my portal... so I had no choice but to attack whoever was at hand`s reach the best I could.
To my surprise, and I`m playing the game in "normal", I defeated both dragons in about 30 seconds, with my henchman (Sharwin) still alive (she didn`t do anything but cast herself invisible and sing for me) and having used 2 healing potions only...
Quite dissapointing.
So... if anyone is having trouble with this 2 (maybe everyone plays in a harder difficulty level?)... I recommend: kill the red dragon in moonwood, giant`s lair, it will drop a really nice red dragon armor suite that will grant inmmunity to fear and knockdown, as fire resistance. Use the dragon slippers that go around so handy and guard yourself with the belt of strength (+5)... get some powerful melee you have worked on trough the game and don`t try the old-tactics of letting your henchman take the damage while you run around with ranged weapons. Go for the fight with some endurance/bull strentgh potions and you`ll be surprised how easy it is!
I was quite shocked that my fighter character was so strong at level 16, but I defetead "Astonishing-beauty" Morag and her nice companions in a fight without much challenge.
I`ll try a harder difficulty level now... sorry for boring you people but wondered if everyone found it as easy!

Most enemies are easy to kill (except Klauth). Morag is so easy as a spellcaster I had to reload and kill her again.

Well - the reason it was "that" easy was because you did "the right things" so to speak. Any monster will be (somewhat) easy if you prepare proberly for them
I remember first time I played with my sorcerer (first character at all in NwN) and I ran into thoese two dragons - wammo and I was dead 5 sec later with Daelan running around with grinning skulls around his head (fear effect).
But yes - combat is not really terrible difficult in NwN, especially when you get higher level (in terms of the modules levelrange) and get some items which protect against the most "dangerous" things

If I think the game is too easy, I don't bring along any henchmen. That is an easy way to do it. Daelan and Grimgnaw will mostly shout: Fall by the hand of Dealan Red Tiger and The task is done. Before they either die or slay the monster in five seconds.

Even HotU is fairly easy with those belts. There are a few creatures that can do more than 20 hp in a single hit and there is more spell casting going on, but I find that most of the battles I take little or no damage (and regenerate takes care of that.) My main challenge in HotU is keeping the various henchmen alive since they don't have the wit to change to the proper belt for the current enemy and of course it is far too difficult to change it for them in the midst of the battle.
Resistance to Tyrants is Service to God.
Well... at least now I don`t feel like if I did something wrong for not dying right away here and there...
I didn`t find Klauth that hard... even though he kinda screw me up when he ambushed me placing himself in the only exit out of the small path you follow to get to him, being the door on my back locked. I had no way of running away from him to go ranged and he was all over my little self with his nasty fear spells. Clarity potions took care of that.
So what is the level we are "supposed" to end NWN with? I mean, which would be the normal experience you would get for getting that far?

Spoiler For Word Of Power
I've just had a jaw-dropping moment with the Balor to get the WoP. I have as my henchmen a Celestial Avenger (well, don't want too much power by my side
). He went in, dropped 39 hitpoints from the Balor using Divine fire, and then proceeded to pound him into the ground.
I remember this from last time, it took me AGES to kill him last time around. For some reason, I'm already on level 18 (straight wizard). It may because I specifically took some feats to help with fighting (Toughness, Two weapon fighting) which means she's a pretty tough Wizard, so even if the CA gets killed, she can usually take out whatever's left standing. Oddly enough, the Elk tribe members actually killed my Celestial one. Does anyone know for certain that if I have, say, three Elk members on "Near Death" when I start fighting them, do I get the same amount of xp as if I had never used the CA? Otherwise I can't explain why my level is so high at this point.
