Who/What is Mr Ox

Post by themarxx »

Just ran through the Forum and couldn't find anything on Mr Ox - owner of the curio shop in Chinatown.

He is obviously not human, cos when I attack him, he vanishes.

Anybody care to enlighten the rest of us or hazzard a guess? Could he be a Kuei- Jin? Or the Kuei-Jin equivalent of Caine?

That's a very good question. It's possible there's no clear cut answer to the question and he's just a character designed to enhance the totally "other" feel of China Town.

Regardless, he's not human. It's possible he's a Kuei-Jin who has allied himself with the Yama Kings. Likewise, its possible he represents a demon spirit or an eastern mage. I'm not entirely sure. It's clear he is something supernatural, though.

There really is no KoTE equivalent to Caine. They have a more complicated lineage and cosmological structure. Regardless, I don't think Mr. Ox is suppose to be anyone of tremendous significance in the KoTE cosmology.

Mr. Ox (possible SPOILER)

Check out Mr. Ox' eyes. Kindred or Kuei-Jin, he's the equivalent of a Malkavian. He's insane. Given that he's set up shop in Chinatown and is clearly of oriental origin, I'd bet he's the Kuei-Jin equivalent rather than actual Malkavian.
