HotU - Can I get my stuff back? (SPOILER)

Post by Hollans »

Hello everyone,

Just started HotU and slightly annoyed  - collected all sorts of handy loot not only for myself but also for possible henchmen. Get to HotU and *puff* one drow thief later and its ALL GONE. Is that it, is it all gone for good or is it possible to recover it later?!

Please put me out (or reinforce) my misery ... :(

Thanks all :p

by the end of Chap 1, you'll be inside of the drow encampment. there you will find a chest that contains your equipment.(although it doesn't include everything in your inventory)

Yeah you will find your stuff (some of them at least) in that chest. Problem is that by then you should have much better equipment so it would not be that usefull to you (except to sell it).

Actually it is possible to get back all of your stuff- quicksave after emptying the chest then reload immediately and the chest will be full of another random selection of your stuff. I know this seems a little cheesy but frankly I worked damn hard for my stuff and I want it back.

That's great - thanks for letting me know. And I like the quicksave option - you're damned right we worked hard to get it (and keep it without being encumbered all the time!). :D

Hmm. I think all of my stuff was there. You do know that there is more than one "page" to that chest's inventory, don't you? I had about 11. To get to the other pages you need to click on the little arrows, just like when you are in a store.

Really? Shall have to try this then as it certainly would save time on the save/load method.

Does that include stuff in magic bags? I like making custom equipment for my PCs, though the henchpeople are on their own.

I want my cute pink dress for my homicidal halfling monk back, dammit!

Normally you get most everything - except bags - back when you find your stuff.
Whether or not it counts for custom items or what not, I don't know - but I see no reason why it shoudln't.

I normally found about 7 pages of my stuff in that chest, back when I played.

The stuff is taken out of the bags and mixed in with everything else (including the, now empty, bag).

The drow encampment at the end of Chapter 1? I'd swear I went up and down and in and out and looked in every chest and box and barrell and didn't see my own stuff. It had seemed to me to be the most likely place I'd find it. This would give me an excuse to play HotU through again... Is the particular room this chest is in mentioned in the walkthrough on this site? (Or will someone throw me a general vicinity...) I've got to check on this, cuz it was seriously annoying me that I never found my stuff.

Here is a link to the map from GameBanshee's walkthrough. The stuff is at location #3 on the map, right across from the exit to the next level. It is in a black chest.
