A Sequel, Anyone?

Post by Orlando_Hamar »

I don't know about anyone else, but I definately want a sequal. This is the best game I've ever played, and it would be a shame for such a work of art to go to waste.
I know about Troika...I think they're going out of business or something? Anyway, I hope a company just as talented would pick up the sequel.
What do you want in a possible sequel?

1. Bring Christof Romuold (from V:TM Redemption) back, if only for a small part. I want to see what he's turned into.
2. Make the game more about Gehenna and Caine.
3. Let me hear the character's voice!
4. Less loading times, and cars you can steal. I know this may sound like going all GTA, but it would open up new possibilities for the game. Just...don't have racing. I hate racing games.
5. Set it in a different city. Originality is what counts when it comes to a setting.

Well I for one was content not to need to drive cars for the simple fact if you want a mission based game involving driving cars, go play James Bond Everything Or Nothing or Grand Theft Auto. Which btw I am not knocking, I love those games. But I was happy not to need to hop in a car, shooting or chasing someone down.

I do agree and would really enjoy hearing our character voices. You select the thing to say and then the character says it.

With that in mind though, there would need to be loading times or imagine how hard that would be on a system to run. There is a lot going on for this game, I was content with the amount of load times after I upgraded my RAM for this game.

I would like to see more clothing though. Maybe like you can buy weapons and items, you can buy clothes as well.

Otherwise really I was pretty content with the game itself overall, but maybe more freedom. Like imagine going to an elder or prince and getting permission to sire someone? that would be a cool function.

My rambling ideas

I loved the open-ness of Morrowind... I'd love it if a sequel was made that was a little more open. It'd be great if u could work a little more for say the Anarchs, do some side-quests involving the Sabbat... It'd also be nice to say, inconvenience them -- blow some holdings up, spread some lies, assassinate some members... perhaps gaining some heat from the Sabbat? Like the way the hunters appear more and more frequently when you lose Masq. points.

Mainly just involve the other sects. I was kinda disappointed that you didn't really get any missions or anything other than new dialogue that, essentially, covered the same topics... (when u leave the Camarilla and become an Anarch spy)

Siring is also a great idea, even moreso if it involves some training... like, if u neglect ur Childe they can run around breaking the Masq. (you lose points coz its ur Childe) which could lead to either a short and bloody hunt or some parental guidance (u regain said point)

About the voice tho... I think the lack of a voice is ok, all the games blackisle/troika/u-get-the-idea made had npcs talking to a silent player. Personally, a bad voice actor/actress could put me off a clan -- I admit it, I dodge the Nossies because I dont like the idea of being that hideous... or wearing bondage gear 24/7. But then, Troika is dead, maybe its time for a change?

I absolutely agree about playing a Nos... I hate their look and their clothes if I was to play that as a character lol. Also I'm a gamer who likes wide open places and lots of exploring. To be confined to the underground and sewers... not my thing.

Another thing I noticed was that most of the time, when you were talking to someone, it was just their face doing all the work. When you're talking to the bum guy, and he's coughing. His mouth is just moving. His hands don't cover his mouth, and he doesn't bend over while coughing either. It's like that with everyone when you're just looking at their face. It's like their body aint even there. I think the emotions on the faces were as good as they could possibly get at this stage of computer engineering, but they needed to put more effort into the body, not just the face.

I really like the idea of the sequel being more open ended. It would be cool if you could easily explore the city with a map that shows who was where in town. That way the “boundaries” for your exploration would be dictated by who you were affiliated with, i.e. you are in great danger if you go to Chinatown because the Kuei-Jin want your blood. Your actions would influence where the battle lines were through the negotiation of treaties and leading successful raids.

It would be great to have the option to politick your way to a position of power, so you become a baron or prince by the end of the game complete with your own sheriff and henchmen. As you gain money and influence you could recruit gunmen or bribe cops to attack your vampire opponents during the day while their sleeping in their havens.

That’s another thing; your haven should be more tailored to individual players. You should have the option to buy a mansion or castle by the end of the game complete with guards and servants (I remember my stronghold in Morrowind). I mouthed off to the prince early on so I never got the downtown apartment, which meant by the end of the game my uber-powerful super Malkavian was living in a sleazy one room apartment above a pawnshop. One last little suggestion for a sequel would be the option to customize the look of your character, after all this is an RPG and people like being able to create a completely new character. At the most basic level you should be able to alter the way your avatar dresses!

I realize that this is a ton to ask of a developer so at this point I’m just hoping a sequel gets made, but a man can dream.

Quoted for truth.

I loved this game! It left me wanting more.

P.S. Thank you whoever it was that linked to the nude Malk skins.

It's a very good game and I'd be one of the first in line to purchase a sequal. However, with the game's mediocre to poor sales and with Troika's closure, probably a direct sequal is unlikely. Hopefully, we'll see another White Wolf RPG down the road, though.

I was pretty happy with the nature and scope of Bloodlines. Sticking to one urban setting seems to have served the game fairly well. I'm not really interested in it being as open as a Morrowind, if it would require some of the detailed NPCs to be sacrificed. What I loved about Bloodlines was that everyone from the merchant who sold you goods, to the baron who was manipulating you, was richly interesting and engaging.

I like the idea of a sequal being more political in scope. I mean, I like the idea of a character attempting to rise in the ranks (and perhaps succeeding) in a city. Likewise, some of the consequences of this power and some of the obligationis involved in being a prince or baron could be explored, and then capped off by war with an opposing faction.

I'd like any game to continue exploring the themes of Gehenna (assuming it was a VtM and not a VtR game), as this is core. Perhaps a Gehenna chronicle game could be interesting in itself.

This is what set this game apart from anything I have ever played. I know little of vampires, the rules or the history, but this game made it all too real for me. It sucked me in and left me wanting more. (it was more fun being a vampire than a jedi!) Troika did it right (after the patch), I wish they did not have to close, we all lost when that happened.
