Tremere Female Dexterity Bug

Post by yrthwyndandfyre »

I've been through every thread, and haven't seen anybody even mention this. As a Tremere Female, the dexterity upgrade buttons don't *quite* work. They do to varying degrees, but I've been where level 4 won't activate, but all levels before level 4 will (she can't get to level 5), to where she's stuck at level one except for non-XP upgrades to dexterity. Even when the buttons do work, I have to click the button to the right of the one I want to activate to get it to work. In other words, if I have dexterity 1, I can occasionally upgrade to dexterity 2 by clicking dexterity 3, but sometimes even that doesn't work and I'm stuck at dexterity 1. I've been cheat-coding myself past this so far, but I'd like to know if there is a fix. I expect this is a side-effect of the fact that a Tremere can't upgrade any physical attribute to level 5, but there is no problem with strength. This bug only exists in dexterity.

I've had something like that happen to me, but I wasn't playing a Tremere. Turns out it was due to her wearing clothing that gave her a -1 to dex or the body armor that gave a -2. And then there was the Fae Charm that gave a +1. In all cases the dex buttons would act a bit weird when upgrading. So I just temporarily shucked the clothing and the charm. Worked fine then.

Thanks

That actually makes a kind of oblique sense. Thanks for the help.

I played through the first time with a Tremere female and noticed also Dex dropping when equipted with heavier clothes. However you do get items that will raise your Dex up or keep it at max when those heavy clothes are on.

Having now actually fiddled with this in a game context, it turns out that artificial penalties to the settings make the upgrade screen act a little weird. This probably extends to all other attributes and I merely noticed it on Dex because that's the easiest place to get a dex penalty - Hollywood armor is all you require. Dropping all artificial penalties seems to make it work all right, but the bonuses don't seem to work the same - when I picked up the Fae charm, I didn't seem to get the bonus back that it provided. I'll keep this thread up to date with any news of interest.

fae charm

I found that dropping the charm and picking it up again got it to work if it wasn't appearing to do so.

the way that clothing messes up dex is a pain - it makes using XP difficult.
I actually had two fae charms once - Isaac gave me one and I had already got one. I don't think the added.

Physical attributes on Tremere can't go past level 4.
