A Short Cut to Finish the Game (SPOILERS)

Post by mbz »

I just tried this out today. I happened to finish the game without even being a member of the Blades.

1. Use Bargain power to increase wealth, train your endurance and other attributes to 100.
2. Obtain the Sunder and Keening artifacts.
3. Stock up healing potions, and whatever supplies necessary for a really tough fight.

I launched a direct assault on Dagoth Ur. He was damn hard. I turned the difficulty down to -100. I went inside the chamer, equipted Sunder, struck the heart once, and then unequipted the artifact. Dagoth Ur came behind me. I levitated. He followed me and got trapped in a cliff. I took out keening, struck the heart twice. Unequipted keening, drank potions, and then did the same thing again. Once the heart is destroyed, I killed Dagoth Ur easily as I levitated. i thus became Neverar without even receiving orders from the Blade Master.

I know this is cheesy...

Yes indeed, why?
What is the point of buying and playing the game if you don't want to bother with the central quests and storyline? You'd be better off sticking with an FPS like Quake or Doom, neither of which really has a story.
Admittedly, Morrowind is one of those games wherein you never actually have to do the main quest if you don't wish to, but that is beside the point here..

I just find playing through the main quest intrinsic to roleplaying, and IMO it is more rewarding, but to each their own I suppose... *shrug*

Just out of curiosity, when you exited the Chamber of the Heart, after killing Ur, did you encounter a certain goddess, get a cutscene and receive a ring?

So you need special weapons to break that heart thing? I wasted everything in that area just wandering aimlessly with my character except for that stupid heart. No wonder I couldn't break it. Maybe I should bother with the story and not just kill everything that moves for once. :o

Response to dragon wench: I beat the game 3 times regularly already, and I'm sick of doing other people's petty errands.

To Magrus: Strike the heart with Sunder once, and with Keening multiple times (4-5 times) until it breaks. If you don't equipt wrathguard, the artifacts will deal serious wounds to you once you equipt them (something like 100 damage per second). I just discovered that your mercenary in Mournhold can use the two artifacts without the penalty.

The next thing I'm gonna do is to taunt and kill every guard in the museum of artifacts in Mournhold. :D

Dragon Wench:
And yes, I did receive the quest notification after I destroyed the heart and Dagoth Ur. The passage was sealed, and I had to teleport out and walk my way back in to see Azura and the cut scene.
Hope I answered your question.

*When I first met Dagoth Ur, he said that I was "unprepared". He said that he will not talk to me until I have the two artifacts. I didn't give a damn and slashed him with my blade. You know the rest of the story.

I think it's pretty cool to finish the main quest so quickly, now let's see how you tackle Almalexia and Hircine. :p
Do you need a silencer if you're gonna shoot a mime?

Considering it is impossible to kill Hircine without doing the majority of the quest, and Almalexia without at least doing SOME, that's not really an issue.
Mag: Don't remember much at all of last night do you?
Me: put simply.... No :D
Mag: From what I put together of your late night drunken ramblings? Vodka, 3 girls, and then we played tic-tac-toe and slapped each other around.

Try to stay on subject, guys.
