U have to finish SoA to continue to ToB. Of course u don't have to do all the sidequests, but u have to rescue Imoen and find/fight/kill/sodomize(sp?) Irenicus first.

I must have missed the last option in the dialogue somewhere. Or maybe you have to have Korgan in your party for it to show up..

Or maybe maybe that's what those pit fiends are doing to him in the closing video when he wakes up in Hell...

etc

I must have also missed that "option" ! ... And here I was always under the impression that that type of "behavioyr" wasn't part of these games ... maybe it's something that's happened in one of those "mods"??? And I'm still looking for an answer to my question !!

This sounds like an answer to me. Or did you mean how far do you have to go in a romance for the romance to continue to ToB? As far as I know it automatically continues as long as you don't upset your lover. It may require that you get to the "commitment" stage (ie when you actually say that you love each other rather than simply flirting) but I don't believe that is necessary. But the only romance I have actually pursued into ToB is Viconia's and that went all the way in SoA (you should pardon the expression), so I'm probably not the expert on this question.

You didn't get a great answer because you didn't word the question very well- next time, just explain a little more and people will probably answer :)

If you have TOB installed, you don't really ever "continue" so to speak. SOA ends and TOB starts, but the romance continues in the fashion it would and depends upon what stage you are at for the specific romance- the romanceactive value, which character you are romancing, etc.

So, SoA romances will pick up where they left off in ToB? Meaning, if you dont' complete the romance in SoA, you can continue the romance in ToB as you would in SoA? I would have thought they were limited to ToB content, which would imply that you'd need to be in the commitment stage. I've not tested any of this, though. I've always played the games through.

I really don't think that unfinshed romances will continue in ToB, becuse ToB romances are heavy connected to the stage of the game you are on. In fact first Love Talk you will get right in the beginning - in your pocket plane.

I believe it depends upon the lovetalk value. You have to complete the SOA romances within SOA, specifically within a few chapters. However, it isn't really a question of "how far" you have to go in SOA, because you get romance dialogues depending upon realtime countdown, not what point you are at in the game. In theory you could finish a romance in chapter 3 if you were patient enough.

So ... What I get from all this, is that it isn't "required" to finish te SOA game in order to pick up the "romance" in TOB ... as long as you've reached a centain level of "commitment"? Also, that you can install TOB anytime after reaching that level, without losing the dialogue chain? Or should TOB be installed befor reaching that point?

U have to finish SoA to go on with romances in ToB, cos u can't start the latter without beating SoA.
Regarding installation, I think it doesn't matter when u install ToB, as long as u do b4 starting it ;)

umm .. deciphering ... "U have to finish ..." understood ... "cus U can't start ...." I thought TOB could be played / started even if SOA was not finished, as long as you were at / in a certain level / chapter, which was why I asked about the "romance continuing" in the first place ... "regarding installation ... as long as U do b4 starting it." do WHAT before starting WHAT? .... Does this mean the TOB program can be installed along with SOA ... but not PLAYED ... without cancelling the "romance" thing untill SOA is completed?

Or does it mean that TOB cannot be installed once SOA is started ... and then has to be finished, before TOB can be "safely" installed?

SOA has a definate ending and is a seperate game from TOB. You should finish all SOA romances in SOA. If you don't they won't continue through to TOB.

You can install TOB whenever you want.

You can play one area of TOB (the Watcher's Keep) while still in SOA. Other than that, the two games are seperate.

On another "puzzlement" ... what about ... "patches" ... when SOA and its bug patch are installed, would installing ( but not starting ) TOA and its bug patch cancell out the SOA patch?

The TOB patch just overides the SOA patch. You lose nothing, but gain somethings. The reason you don't have both, is because the TOB patch adds in TOB related stuff, and still has the SoA stuff.

You have to finish SoA to enter the main story of ToB and the majority of the playing areas, but you can enter and complete Watcher's Keep during SoA if you install ToB before finishing SoA. And in my experience, ToB can be installed at any time (before/during/after completing SoA) and your game will still work.
