getting out of tight spots (spoilers)

Post by evil_flagpole »

There are a few ocassions in the game when i find that i can't always win a straight melee battle, so i take advantage of my surroundings.

An example of this is when playing through the game on several occasions, i have never beaten the two Twi'leks with Atton in the cantina. So what do i do, yes i hide behind the bartender, can't get me there. A few grenades and continueous blaster shots soon kills them.

Does anybody else do anything similar?

Spoilers!

What I usually do is plant a couple of mines when you go in to get the "Dancing for Vogga" quest. It also helps is Atton's a Jedi at the time. If you're a dark side character, you can kill Lootra in the flophouses for the last lightsaber component. Then, when you bust into Vogga's storeroom, the crate contains another lightsaber rather than the last component.

The one battle that's always toughest for me is the mercenary camp on Telos.

ok ill let u have the use of mines but hiding behind the bar tender is just cowadly. face um like a head on. the best way to get out of tight spot is to fight your way out. if u gonna hide then you might as well jus put the difficulty level down a notch (not that it makes a blind bit of differance).

when fighting the handmaidens, all five of them, i usually run around a bit and cower in a corner, some of them wil accidently step oputside the mat, due to bad ai, which counts as beating them.

The Atton in the cantina fight is a toughie. I usually hide behind a table where they won't follow then blast them. Helps if you have an ion weapon, too. The worst, by far, is the merc base on Telos, though. If you aren't very careful you'll have people shooting at you from all sides and you'll very quickly be gunned down. I usually have to redo this fight 2 or 3 times.

Depending on your stats, some of the other mercenary encounters can be tough as well, but blasting their melee people as they charge before going melee yourself seems to work well.

*I* am the only character set to Aggresive, the other two I set to stationary and give them ranged weapons. (Unless its Handmaiden, who will just kick your arse no matter what lol). This keeps your weaker followers out of harms way, usually. This helps a great deal in places like the Mercenary camp on Telos surface. If they wander to far from you there, they die.

For Atton, I make sure I get him turned into a Jedi ASAP and give him two (2) fully upgraded lightsabers, the Finese Lightsaber and Dual Weapons feats. Also slap some good fully upgraded armor on him with melee immunity upgrades on it and give him a Mandolorian Powershield. Have him go behind the bar and stim up, then come out swinging. He will rip the Twin Suns new ones. lol

(Spoiler) FYI, Atton can get a LOT of Influence in Nar Shaddaa. More than enough to get him to spill his guts and allow you to turn him into a Jedi well before the Twin Suns bar fight. (And don't forget to come BACK to Nar Shaddaa after Goto's Yacht and pick up the Twin Suns swords they drop in the bar!)

i agree with this, the best way to deal with the problem is to fight, if ur not confident with ur character and dont think they can do it then save. The way i feel is if im goin out then im goin out fightin.

Here's a tip though, wen ur agaist the twileks with atton make sure he has master critical with a vibroblade (or lightsaber if you have him as a jedi at this point), after a couple of these one of the twileks should be stunned then it only takes one or two master criticals to finish them off, then just do the same to the other.

...

I don't see why some people have this mindset where they think that brute force is always the best way out, and the only way to do things is to straight out fight everyone. <snip>

>:(

My creative writing talents are squandered on the uncultured...>sigh<

Didn't mean to be offensive, maybe my casual humor is too dark and evil for this forum. Apologies.

And, for the record, I liked the game. I just don't like the idea of standing around for hours on end playing the same part of the game for some false, empty "satisfaction".

Make sure that your "casual dark humor" isn't mistaken for flaming/trolling and there should be no problems with it.
Sarcasme (or dark casual humor) is an "easy" excuse when it comes to written posts on a forum, because it is very hard to convey sarcasme via the written language, even with the usage of smilies. (which you didn't had either).
Thus it is better to be safe then sorry, in regards that your posts aren't "misunderstood".

Anyways - back on track.

The battle with the... Twi.. licks whatever :/ I can't spell for crap so... roll with me here.. I didn't know about that bar bug, so i dueled (I love duels so unless you hes just the one hander use one sword) swords and used up like 5 sheilds... non-jedi mind you, they aren't that hard, just a pain. *Spoilers?* I think Nar-Shadda's gas bar and the underground base place are harder if you just run into battle all the time.. This game i think is much more fun if it IS hard. Right now on my new file most everyone is using blasters... I just got done with telos and they owned all.... so, i don't really think melee and power is the best way to go... Though personaly.. i hate mines.. :)

With Atton in the Bar, it took me 2 tries to kill them, however, I finally overpowered them. I had an adhesive grenade which kept them to the ground, I think it was adhesive ... , and then I just blastered them.

But my main character almost never uses melee, she's a dark consular, therefore I never have to use by lightsabers, just my force poweres which is more than cool for me! :)

The twi-lek sisters weren't such a problem... though I did give Atton the Barrier line of powers so they didn't do a single point of damage :P
