grey jedi....spoilers

Post by Lowkei »

ok i have to say, alot of people seem to like being grey/neutral jedi, but i have to say.......why? I mean as grey jedi you don't get any force power point reductions as you would if you where say darkside. The main thing is though you can't become a prestege class as a grey jedi you have to be light or dark as the classes are split to things like sith lord and jedi master. People who claim to play as grey jedis will more then likly want to become a prestege class in which case they will no longer be grey as they will be either sith or jedi. So..........yeah. I don't see the point in being grey jedis.
Rock on, Rock hard & don't look back!!!

True you don't get force power point reductions for using a power in match with your alighnment, but you don't get force power point increase when using power of opposite alighnment either. Besides there is no rule saying you cannot be light/dark enough to gain prestige class and then get LSP or DSP in sufficient number to become gray Jedi.

yep i think obsidian fell down there.

i use a lot of good/evil answers and usually get stuck in the middle.

why should i be penalized for not being a super goody or super baddy.

I agree that there is no point to being "grey". The "no FP penalty for opposite casting" excuse doesn't hold water with me. All you need to do is have a little CHA bonus and the "penalty" goes away. Then you're only left with the bonus side. A Jedi with LS Mastery throws Force Storm just as effectively as a Sith with DS Mastery. It is all dependant upon level and bonuses. In fact, a Jedi Master with the WIS bonus for LS actually throws a BETTER Force Storm, and with a modest CHA (18 is fine) the penalty is negligible. Furthermore, when your FP pool is >500 you can afford to pay double for a few powers if you happen to not have anything to boost your CHA.

So...
Grey Jedi get a better boost from the name crystal. Dark/Light get DS/LS Mastery in addition to the name crystal.
Grey Jedi aren't penalized for using "opposite" powers. Neither are any LS/DS Mastery Jedi/Sith who have a decent CHA, and they ALSO get to use their own powers at half price. Grey Jedi don't use anything for half price.
Grey Jedi can use all powers indiscriminately. So can LS/DS Jedi/Sith.

Those seem to be the "big three" of "advantages" for being "grey". But none of them are true.

The only "advantage" of being grey is that you can "play yourself" instead of roleplaying somebody else. I think Obsidian recognised that maybe not everyone wants to roleplay as pure evil or pure good so they allowed for a middle road. Thats the advantage - roleplaying options.

I never really saw the point of why someone would want to be a grey jedi, and i dont plan on playing the game again to be one
