Grimar, I think you mean Power And Majesty, if you are reffering to Edguy. Besides, why not Helloween with the song : 'Power'......
I play bass and some guitar. Black Sabbath is what I usually play at home. Pretty easy and still the best songs ever. I also play in a band, mostly metal covers for our own fun and friday night beer drinking. I would suggest everybody to start out with Sabbath too, you'll develop much better sense of style than with power metal.....
@CE: I'm sure you wasen't horrible, just trying to play that kind of music is fun, but I thought you were more into classic music.
I can assure you I was horrible
And I was more into classical music, that's one of the reasons I was horrible. Due to the demands and pressure from my piano teacher that I should realise her dreams of being an internationally renowned pianist, I sold my piano in protest and bought an electric guitarr. My family weren't too happy about the change from Chopin to New York Dolls
However, it was fun for a while
I can assure you I was horrible

Reading this thread makes me very envious. I'm a fairly creative person in other areas, but I have never managed music... In fact I have tried to learn the guitar with different teachers about 5 times, and on every occasion it just did not click for me.
I'm not sure if it's because I have small hands and thus had trouble forming the chords, or if there is some relationship to my utter inability at math. I recall reading that people who are good at math are often skilled with music. CE might know more about this though.
So anyway, you people are very lucky

Talent for maths, music and language are closely related, and there is much evidence for viewing them all as basically the same talent.
However, the step between innate talent and actual skill is very long indeed, especially in this case since all three of these fields - music, language and maths - requires training from very early age in order to develop. Also, it is much easier for us humans to create an environment where talents are killed, than to create an environment where they will flourish. Apart from physical/motoric and financial limitations, lack of encouragement from family and school as well as teaching styles that does not suit a particular individual is often enough to hamper people's talents.
