Songs in VTM
Just yesterday I found the text to all songs in Vampire...
And I just realized that "a smaller god" from Darling Violetta is actually about Heather. (It plays at the beach where dwell Thin Bloods)
Read it:
In the violent silence
Of a dream within a dream
You fill my soul with beauty
You're my shiny man machine
I'm sinking in the roses
Falling down to fade away
The velvet blade of apathy
Makes the crush so bittersweet
And I, I could have died last night
But I heard the voice of a smaller god
And I, I could have died last night
But I heard the voice of a smaller god
Your presence is the morning
Your absence is the night
I'm searching your dark hallways
Trying to find the light
Swimming your sad ocean
I'm drowning in your sea
This will all be over soon
And we'll learn to live again
And I, I could have died last night
But I heard the voice of a smaller god
And I, I could have died last night
But I heard the voice of a smaller god
In the evening stars I see your eyes
I hear you speak to me
I miss you now so much it aches
So broken so afraid
And I, I could have died last night
But I heard the voice of a smaller god
And I, I could have died last night
But I heard the voice of a smaller god
It is really about Heather, I am pretty sure now: "I could have died last night, But I heard the voice of a smaller god". That's about her in the hospital.
And now she is always waiting for me to return: "Your presence is the morning, your absence is the night", "In the evening stars I see your eyes...".
So, how do you feel being a god? (A smaller one, though... )
Now I am trying to understand what are the other songs about. If you have any thoughts, I will be happy to hear them out.
PS. btw, imho VTM has the best soundtreck ever.

I'm almost to the point where I'd sell my left arm for the soundtrack. There are about three songs in this game that I definitely want on a CD, and I'll get them there, one way or another.
Sic gorgiamos allos subjectatos nunc
(The Addams family motto: Gladly we feast on those who would subdue us)
Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for you are crunchy, and good with Ketchup.

save your arm
look on your HD - the songs are already there. I copied them across into my music library. you can burn them to CD if you want...
BTW - get the whole Lacuna Coil album that the poster is for - it rocks.
the album is Coma Lies and "Swamped" is a track in VTM

"All the world's a stage and all the men and women merely players"
Uh, sorry I forgot.
Here is the site, where you can find these texts:

It's in russian, but the texts, of course, in english. I am sure, you will figure the things out.

At the risk of going off topic
Being an old git, my music taste goes back to the 1960s - but I try to keep an open mind (saw The Darkness a couple of years back) - if you want to go retro on suitable rock there are some classic dark atmospheric albums kicking around - "In the Court of the Crimson King" by King Crimson is particularly good. I shiver when I hear some parts of it.
other bands suitable include (little known) Praying Mantis, Blue Oyster Cult and Hawkwind would be a good start. the classic "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" by Black Sabbath (before Ozzy was an oddball TV personality) stands up well too. Lots of classic metal has gothic influences, but so do many gentler bands - electro-folk music is full of it - bands like Steeleye Span and the brilliant Fairport Convention also have tales of mystery, murder and mayhem.
Convention recorded two outstanding songs of that nature on the album "Liege and Lief" - "Crazy Man Michael" and "Tam Lin".
the ultimate in chiller albums is an Aphrodite's Child's album - I think it is called "666-The Apocalypse of St John" and is a musical interpretation of The Book of Revelation. Weird thing about it is Vangelis is the keyboard player and...wait for it...Demis Roussos is the lead singer! (fat guy - wore a tent)
that's enough music to be getting on with.
I do like the lacuna coil album though
any thoughts on why it is an "Empty Spiral"?

Guys, this topic started out with V:TM, but now seems to have moved into "good spooky songs." If it stays in the latter, I'll move the thread to SYM (Speak Your Mind), our catchall forum. If you want it to stay here, please keep it on V:TM.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
I did try
...and after all, I did end my post with a question about a soundtrack artist for VTM.
Some games influence other choices of entertainment, or encourage interest in something - often it is history or a writer - I did read Anne Rice after playing the game and enlarged my vamp film collection.
Next thing you know, we'll be discussing Walpole and "The Castle of Otranto".

The song playing on the Santa Monica beach radio with the thin bloods the same one in the Hotel Downtown? You know the one with Boris the Russian and the woman spreading sickness for the Bishop? There is huge ball room and a stage, a really cool song is playing and there is a girl on stage singing into a mic and dancing.
But I'd sell my left arm for the soundtrack to, the songs rock. Asp Hole has two cool songs that play, the one is off the Resident Evil 2 movie soundtrack but I forget who sings it.
*edit* finally got all the songs in Bloodlines as a play list on Windows Media Player... stupid though though would not put the songs in the selected playlist I created called Bloodlines so I had to find them in the media file and move them over...

After reading texts of Lecher Bit.ch and listening to the song for a few more times, I believe I know what it is about.
It is about "rough seduction of Brujah clan". And "stick this needle down unside" is actually about "vampire bite".
And in the end of the song we can see the real face of a vampire. ("let you die alone like an animal").
At first I didn't like this song at all (though it really fits the Anarch Bar). But the more I listen to it, the better it becomes.
And "Isolated" is a hit. When I hear this song I see a man, who is trapped in white room with soft walls of Asylum. He can beat the walls with his head, he can try to break bars on the windows but all is in vain. He is definitly insane - he sees monsters ("the monsters make me high") and "stares at lights that makes him blind".
And there are SO many synonims to word "trapped" in this song!
Well, that's my vision.
I don't know much of the Tiamat's Cain. It is definitly about Embrace, but it has many names that I do not understand. I believe they are from some mythology (german, perhaps?).
And I don't remember what song plays in DownTown Hotel. I heard it only once - at my first walkthrough and didn't remember. I never returned there later - there are no quests or NPC there.
Is it really Darling Violetta? And the girl is singing looks like her?

After finding all the songs on my Bloodlines file on my computer and having them play in Media Player, I believe the song being performed in the hotel is the same song playing on the radio on the Santa Monica pier.

They explain it like this:
[quote="lacuna coil]
A two-track demo under the name ETHEREAL was recorded and sent to several labels across Europe. After reviewing the offers that came in"]
I thought about buying a genitorturers album, since I enjoyed the lecher ***** song, but then I discovered that the band looks like this:
EvilD
Bizz
Angel
Good lord, they are worse than Him and Horgh combined. Is the word "***goth" resgistered as a swearword?
Anyway, I love the soundtrack. Try playing the downtown and police-hunt theme on your mp3 player when you walk through your city late at night - very spookey.

They're spooky alright, but i think "moldy old world" gets the prize..thats sooo creepy, and my cat kinda likes it..(whenever there's a song he likes he just stares at the screen and purrrrs)(yeah,i know that's creepy too,but who cares?anyway, considering that he's been living with me for 11 years he is considered lucky to be alive)

music in vtm
i myself am a fan of the musical genre portrayed in vtm, yet i think the songs chosen 4the soundtrack were cunningly chosen, yet not written 4the game. 4instance, in 'a smaller god' she mentions 'man machine'. what if your character was female? also, lacuna coil's swamped was released quite a while b4 bloodlines. interesting idea u have, also consider that most gothic metal acts involve vampirism and similar concepts of inescapable tragedy in their music. it could b that 4those reasons these songs were chosen...

Yeah, I know that. I have read somewhere, that the only song that was written specially for the game is Ministry - Bloodlines. (I don't like it though).
All other - chosen.
But still they seem so apprpriate for this game, especially for some moments of it (Like with Hether - first you hear the song, right after that you meet her).

Yes, they were very well chosen. Best soundtrack i ever heard. Also, quite amazing 2find a 'commercial' game with a soundtrack that includes lacuna coil and tiamat. I have been a follower of lacuna coil long b4 bloodlines was released, and didnt know of their involvement until i saw the poster in the sm apartment. i was quite pleasantly surprised. also, when i finally got 2the asp hole, and 1st i heard tiamat, and immediately thereafter lacuna coil, i was downright impressed! It is the best game i ever played.
