Never having been to LA, or the US, I wonder in how far the landmarks in the game resemble reality. I would imagine that troika exaggerated (added) the gothic element in the architecture, but would one be able to recognise the downtown skyscrapers from he game? Is there a golden temple in chinatown, a red dragon restaurant?

Oh, and just out of curiosity, has anyone else noticed the occasional meta-humor in the game?, as in jokes that ridicule the game (game mechanic) itself. One example would be the pc-game advertisement in the radio program, where they pitch an upcoming white-wolf game in which you play Frankensteins monster and have to get a bread from a bakery, involving the rpg typical element of unlogical seek and fetch.
NPC:"Sure I can tell you where the bakery is, but first you have to pick up my daughter from the lake" PC:"UUUaaaargh"
I found a couple more int he game, but am not entire sure if they are not limited to the Malkavian character.

not just the Malks

there are adverts for Troika in Hollywood - "PLAY/OBEY"

the one I like best is the woman on the beach - in answer to will I win this game? she answers it matters not whether you win or lose, it's "if you bought the game"

classic self-reference.
"All the world's a stage and all the men and women merely players"

well I also like how they make fun of certain things like government people trying to control content in video games. You can catch the news broad cast, they list a few funny titles like Rape and stuff hehe.

Though not to familer with LA, the game seems to take place in small sections they created with LA itself always in the background.

The game does base itself on real life Los Angeles. It's probably fair to add, however, that it's the WoD variety. As such, the building are a little bit closer together, the skyline is a little darker, and of course the seedy side of Sunset Boulevard and Downtown are emphasized. I'm not from LA, but my basic take is that it does *resemble* portions of Los Angeles. Regardless, it's clear that the Troika folks used the real LA as the starting point for their level building.

I also enjoyed the meta-humor in the game. The radio and television are probably the best sources of this. The news report on censorship, the Frankenstein RPG commerical, among other things, have me chuckling every time I hear them.
