Malkavian & VV "possible spoiler"

Post by mjm36 »

While playing a Malkavian, I completed the first of Velvet's two quests (killing "Chastity" without harming any bystanders) but when I went back to tell "VV", I couldn't get the right dialogue to tell her, depite going back several times at different times of the game and I couldn't get her to give me the second quest (B-Rated Writer) at all. Is this a glitch or just something Malkavians don't get?

Even as a Malkavian you should get it automatically upon leaving her presence, after ending the Chastity quest. It's not triggered by any dialogues you select. Rather, she catches you in the hall just as you are about to walk out. Did you say something that offended VV?

Ok thats really weird (And I got it without having to leave her room) I talked to her at the end of the first quest but I can't remember what I said that got her to tell me about her other problem but I got that quest from her to with my Malkavian. You can get the quest during the continuation of your conversation after you tell her about the hunter you killed.

As a Malkavian though its hard to know if your every saying the right thing or the wrong thing... or you don't even know what your saying anyway lol.

I hear ya - as a Malk, I picked a response (I didn't know what any of my possibilities meant) to Nines early in the game in The Last Round, and he cursed me out and wouldn't speak to me again.

As for the second VV quest, both as a Gangrel and a Malkavian, I had to leave the conversation after the Hunter-Stripper quest and turn to leave. I got a few steps down the stairs, and I hear VV say "Poor Hatter," and I had the option to ask her what she was talking about or just leave.

Yeah, when playing a Malkavian you've got to save often. It's fairly easy to not understand the dialogue option you're selecting. Ha. That's why I never recommend playing a Malk to anyone the first time through the game. I still get tripped up with Malk dialogue choices, after having played the games with many different clans.

You might try reloading from an earlier save point (pre-Chastity quest), and trying again. I don't know of any other way of fixing the problem. Like I said before, she should start a dialogue with you fairly automatically after the Chastity question is completed to her satisfaction (you didn't use Masquerade violating disciplines or make a rukus did you?) and, assuming, you didn't do anything rude.

Yeah Nines cursed me out to which was fine really, I could have taken those Sabbats without his help, who needs him. ;)

So I'm the only one who did not need to walk away from "Susan" before getting the "Hatter" quest? We'd talk, my hunter quest would be complete and then she would finish talking, I'd talk to her again and triggered it without going down the stairs.

Actually the same thing happened to me.
What was really weird that, after also completing this quest ( and I had completed the first one with stealth ) she told me I was an a**hole.
Come on....I am a ventrue ( supposed to be accepted easily by the kindred ), I performed both quests excellently and than I get called this ?....
No wonder the toreodors are called poseurs and two-faced...

Apparrently, I do it differently than anybody else. I get the Chastity quest, waste the hunter, go back, talk to VV about it, and then end the conversation. Then I start a new conversation *immediately*, where she gives me the Hatter quest.

Hmm... Did you try to call her vv as soon as you get the chance? Cause I think she doesn't really like it if you call her anything else. I played as a female ventrue and scored with her resulting in the photo, poster and love poems. During the chastity quest, you have to make sure no one is in the vicinity at all. For the 2 quest, you have to kill Julius.Sometimes it can happen, but you might have picked an offensive line to her instead.

Okay, after I finish talking to her bout the first quest and the dialogue ended, I just waited for a very short while at the same spot and talked to her again which triggered the B-rated writer quest. So there is no need to run down any stairs or exit and reenter the place again to get.

In my experience, her reaction to how I address her has varied depending on several factors. With my Toreador, my seduction skill was already fairly high when I met her. Naturally, I made use of it as often as possible. She let me call her VV before I completed any of her quests.

None of my other characters ever had seduction high enough to even use it on her. For my most recent game (Tremere), I tried calling her VV after completing the first quest and she didn't like that. Insisted I call her Velvet instead. My Tremere only got to call her VV after completing both quests to her satisfaction. He still got the photo, poster, and love notes.

Getting back on topic - I've never had any difficulty getting the second quest from VV. My first time through the game I coldly killed all the patrons of the peepshow. Ms. Velour was very unhappy and gave me the sharper side of her tongue for it. She still offered me the B-Rated Writer quest when I tried to leave, though. Needless to say, she wasn't sending me any poetry after that.

I played through as a female Toreador the first time, but I had no problems calling her "VV" or getting the B-Writer quest. I had my seduction up to 7 or 8 by that time, so I just kept choosing the pink script and she was fine with getting called VV when I came back from the Chastity quest. Anyone else try persuasion/seduction?

Yeah, I feel you are quite right on it. It foremostly depends on your seduction feat. Mine was as high as the above poster Rose thus I got to call her vv fairly quickly. I guess it also depends on other factors. What I did besides choosing all the pink script was to play it by the ear. For example, from I gathered about the b-writer quest was it seems that she wanted Julius offed.Even though, I preffered to let him live, I picked the 2 option to kill him instead. (I'm curious as to if it's okay to pick 1 option?) After I came back, I was sympactatic to her and it went on from there. I'm not sure if it was already mentioned here but I heard that being sarcastic to her could net you some interesting dialogue results.

Yep, that's how I scored with her! I liked her, it was defenitely a pleasure though it's also worth it for those who don't feel the same as selling her autographed photo would net you a neat $400. For myself, I actually kept the photo.

Come to think of it, I can't remember for sure now if my Toreador called her VV before the first quest or not. She led me up to the VIP room, and went on about how it was nice be alone, just the two of us for a while. Using seduction, I convined her to savor the moment a while longer, giving me two dialogue options: 1) A little longer and 2) Now, tell me about that hunter problem. I picked option 1 three times in a row. After getting the 401 on the hunter in Sinbin, I asked her about herself.

Here's where my memory of things gets a little blurry. I think that I was able to call her VV at some point during this conversation.

I distinctly remember calling her Velvet at first to which she replied "Those who are close to me call me VV - flaunt it!" but now I can't remember if that was before or after I did the stripper assassination quest.

Persuasion is another way to get in her good graces. If your persuasion is around 6 or so when you guess her clan, you can use it to tell her that your guess is based on her passion. She likes that answer and will let you call her VV after you complete the first quest. That's how I did it my most recent game as a Tremere with no seduction skill whatsoever.

More than anything, I am wondering if I am missing dialog opportunities. My seduction score was high enough to get the pink lines in our first conversation, but there were no further opportunities once I got back from offing Chastity. Am I missing something or are the autographed picture and all that the full extent of your interactions? You would think there would be more seduction lines, and possibly another thread going into the susan thing more.

Only a Toreador would think that is impressive enough!!!

You don't have to kill Julius. I never do and I've gotten the poetry.
