Hi!
I need some help here as I don't know if I'm doing something wrong.
Whenever I'm outside (even on a smaller place like the yard outside the Ebon Hawk at the Jedi colony everything turns syrup and the char becoems uncontrollable. Either it jerks around all over the place, moving in random directions (one second you're on one side of a field, then everything freezes and after a while you suddenly appear somewhere else), or the char just spins run and won't move at all.. no matter what you do it just won't move.
Another problem is that when I put thinks in containers on the ship I can't retrieve them again, and sometimes the contains claims they are empty.
These things are very annoyinga dn now I wonder if anyone knows how to fix it??
KotOR 1.03
WinXP Pro
Radeon 9600XT
Software probbs
I had similar problems when playing KOTOR on a very low end machine, although it sounds like yours is better than the one I was using. Just out of curiosity, how much RAM do you have?
One way to determine if there are problems is to use the scan hardware feature in the "configure" utility that you can access from the menu that first comes up when you insert the CD or click the icon to launch the game. Scan your hardware and see if any red flags pop up.
You may need to update your video card drivers, for instance.
In the mean time, try setting the graphics lower (no shadows or grass, low object detail, etc.) and see if it makes any difference.
Also, the solution I found for the outdoor spaces issue was to not actually look out at the open space - run up close to a wall, face the camera towards the wall and then use the z and c keys to run sideways along the wall. That sometimes helps, although it's kind of annoying not to be able to see where you're going.
Good luck with that.
Oh, and let me be the first to officially welcome you to the board.
