Jaheira romance - First Harper group appearance *SPOILER*
Jaheira romance - First Harper group appearance *SPOILER*
What are the conditions for the appearance of the first Harper group after you've been to the Harper base 9and cleared it)? Does it rely on game time or real? What does the lovetalk rating need to be?

Present: The Broken Hourglass
Future: Return to Windspear, Imoen Relationship

This for ToB, which made some changes:
If you're not romancing Jaheira, then the first Harper group is set to appear 4 days (game time) after your confrontation with Galvarey. Otherwise, they're supposed to appear immediately after the following romance dialog:
"I have been in a similar place as this before, though it was in the company of other Harpers..." (LOVETALK = 34)
The Jaheira romance is as buggy as ever in ToB - to get Dermin & Co. to show up on cue in several games, I had to use the console.

There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...
What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

Much appreciated.
Fear not, I have learnt that Bioware, while making quality games, has really crap after sales patching. Multiple saves exist so I can fall back at will . If only patches such as Kevin Dorners had been updated for ToB, ah well, I can't wait
It seems I was just being impatient, thanks. Didn't they used to turn up earlier before ToB? I could have sworn they'd turn up before her "Some would have been friends if things had been different" dialogue.
Thanks again, I can rest easy knowing that I'm not playing chunks of the game only to have to reload.

You're welcome. I don't remember when the Harpers used to show up, since I didn't romance Jaheira very often (too aggravating ).

At what point does ToB screw it over then? I haven't had any probs so far.

Yes, I found that as well. Btw you don't need to uninstall/reinstall BG2. Just remove jaheira.bcs from the override folder.Originally posted by polaris:
<STRONG>The Harper Plot/Jaheira romance is BUGGED in ToB. You have to complete the Romance with ONLY SoA and then install ToB. Right now AFAIK it is the only way to get the Romance to work.

Jaheira kept repeating "so.. how did the last battle make you feel" lovetalk at 52. Dermin is supposed to appear for the second time after the dialog, but doesn't . After I removed jaheira.bcs and reloaded ToB, Dermin appeared as soon as I entered a new areaOriginally posted by Quitch:

That problem used to occur before ToB. I'll see if it happens for me.
Currently, the script looks better, with events generally being tacked onto her real time events, rather than being seperate.

@Quitch - Once you get the dialog " How... how did that last battle make you feel?...", use the console to set Jaheira's LOVETALK to 53. Dermin should immediately appear.
One of the conditions for Dermin's 2nd appearance is that Jaheira's LOVETALK = 53, but nowhere in her dialog or script files did I see it being incremented from 52 (the value for the above dialog).

Wow, Bioware never do learn do they
I noticed that though they said they were going to implement a lot of Kevin Dorners fixes, not even Imoens missing 25 skill points made it in, makes me wonder what else didn't make it in.

I didn't want to re-install SoA to deal with the Jaheira - ToB bug, so I tried Blackrose's fix of removing the Jaheira.bcs file from the override directory.
It worked for me. Jaheira asked her "how did the last battle" question while I was in the Shadow Thief guild, and when I walked outside, Dermin made his second appearance.
I have one question, though. Do I need to continue to keep the Jaheira.bcs file out of the override directory, or can I put it back in and have the romance still continue? I have no idea what the Jaheira.bcs file does, and I don't want to mess up things for when I get into ToB.

I would guess that it contains all the changes made by ToB, I'd put it back, since all it does it stop the move from 52 to 53.

Does anyone put this much time and energy into real-life relationships? If they did, I think the object of affection would just run screaming!
(Just joking around, BTW! I personally find the "romance" angle of the game pretty useless and just go the Copper Coronet!)

May you walk on warrrrm sannd....
If the romance is still happening, you'll be able to buy Jaheira an amulet from a Merchant at the bottom of the Temple steps in the Docks district.

Again the same remainder as in another topic : install my patch for Jaheira, it works also in ToB.
This patch corrects all known problems in SoA part of romance - let me known if you will find any other problems.
It has no influence on ToB because there is only one variable used in ToB from SoA - JaheiraRomanceActive . The parts that change this variable in my Jaheira script is actually the same as ion original ToB scripts, so there is no danger of breaking down of romance by my scripts.
