Character quests and booting party members

Post by Prad »

I was just wondering what happened if you were to boot a charater out of your party temporarily while they were in the middle of their (timed) quest sequences...

Basically, I wasnt to temporarily get Valygar in my party to open the planar sphere, but Jaheira is in the middle of her Harper quests, and Edwin is still studying the nether scroll (if I boot one of these charaters). Keldorn and Koorgan have both finished their quests, but I'm unsure as to whether Keldorn would come back as he may just go and join his family, and Korgan would ask for money to rejoin.

Finally, my char is having a romance with Anomen and I don't know how this will be affected.

Do these timed events pause and then restart once characters rejoin, or do you lose the quests forever... and what happens to a romance if the the love interest is kicked out?

Don't kick out the love interest or the romance will be over.

Maybe spoilerish....

Not sure about the others. I believe quest timers restart when you kick out characters that are in the middle of them, but I don't know if Edwin will permanently remain Edwina if kicked out in the middle of the Nether Scroll quest?

Anyway, there is another way. You can kill Valygar and use his body to enter the planar sphere, if you don't plan to use him on a permanent basis. This does offend some folks' sensibilities from a roleplay standpoint, but it doesn't seem to damage your reputation, and even Minsc doesn't leave the party if you do....

I didn't want to drop anyone in my game, so I just killed him. I had a good-aligned party, with 20 rep. I used his body to open the Sphere. No complaits, no lose in rep.

From a role-playing point of view I think it's bad to kill Valygar if you are good aligned, and I really think people like Keldorn and Anomen should complain. Unless of course you and they were duped into doing it by Tolgerius <spelling> and didn't believe the evidence to Valygar's innocence.
Even then Keldorn should be insisting that he faces correct court proceedures rather than summary execution.
Just remember, everyone is entitled to my opinion

The way i think of it... if it were real, i would be able to just take him with me and not boot anybody, so i don't roleplay with the valygar quest :)

What's the problem with coughing up a measly 500 GP for Korgan? That's pocket change :D

To me, Keldorn appears a judge, jury and executioner :D It's not as if he ever makes a point of killing.
