bao-dur doesn't open the forcefield in military base!? (Spoiler)

Post by powergozer »

maybe i forgot something really stupid, but when i enter the telos underground military base, i can't get through the damn forcefields. i played the game before, so i know bao-dur is supposed to open it, but he doesn't. i tried everything!!! open, bash, place mine, talk, scream, cry, whatever.
anyone got any clues? it really sucks being stuck here...

maybe you're not suppposed to go through that forcefield due to the plot or whatever? I can't remember much from the base...can't remember much about Bao Dur either because I didn't use him that much...didn't he have a special trigger skill (ala critical strike, flurry etc) that allowed him to open up forcefields?

go with your main charakter to the force field and try to slash it

then bao dur come and will tell you that his arm isnt just 4 fun.
and he will hit the forcefield.

i play the game for the 4th time now, and it all ways works

thanks for your replies. it's what i read in the walkthrough as well, but it doesn't work for me (it did the first time i played the game though). when i slash the door with my main character, bao-dur is just sitting there playing dumb. it must be some kind of bug then... which SUCKS!
isn't there some kind of cheat to get through or something? i don't want to start all over again...

Well... I don't know if this is true, but it might be a problem if you're using a sword or blaster with Baodur. He needs to hit the thing with his bare hands, I believe.

2 ergo

i equip baodur everytime with a sword there.

and in this case he hits it with his hand, even tho he holds the sword in the other hand. and at the other fields he hit it with the sword

nah doesn't work. even if i equip bao-dur with no weapons he won't open the forcefield. what a frustrating bug! it's quite strange, because i couldn't find any info on this bug in the many bug reports. maybe i should report it as a new one. if anyone wants to check the savegame, i'll post a copy.
thanks for your advice though!

What exact door is it? I believe some passages are closed on purpose or are shut down by a console by default, and you need to flip some switch to get past.

he probably means the first forcefield, on telos in the military base.

when u enter the base, theres in the first room a forcefield and baodur says he can open it......

and in his case, he wont open it, probably a bug, as u said

ja it's the first door. i've been reading all about it. bao-dur is supposed to help me out when i even touch that freaking door, but he's just standing there. worst thing is, i always overwrite my previous savegames (never had any bug experiences before), so i can't go back in time and try again. i'm really stuck in front of that door and have to start all over again!

Doesn't seem to be a thing wrong with it on my PC... anyways, sent the game back, half a minute later with the shield open. ;)

i finally found the solution. i used a nocd-patch because i always get sick of sticking cds in my computer all the time. but apparently it screwed up some game parts. reinstalled the origingal .exe, et voila. thanks for you help though! it was my own stupid fault. lesson learnt.
