A kensai/mage question, once again, I can't duel class!

Post by SubTerran »

alright having finished BG2 several times now, I decided to do a solo with a kensai mage, I created a human male kensai
str.13
dex.18
cost.18
int.18
wis.9
chr.12
I got out of the first dungeon, got up to level 9 and was going to duel class, but I CAN'T!!! the button isn't accessible, as if I was playing someone but human race, I have no idea why I can't duel class.

Use Shadow Keeper if you don't want to re-start. Do you have the last patch?

You need a 15 strength to dual from a fighter.

yeah. Your stat rolls erally suck. I think you should start a new charcater. Then roll stats by trying to get a total score of 84 or more. When you have that, take as much points from char and wis as possible. Max out str, con, dex and int. Now put the rest to wis.

Miyamoto,

No, you *can* roll up to 108 points (straight 18s), but the chances of doing that per roll is worse than winning the lottery. In short, you might reroll the rest of your natural life and never see it. Having said that, you *can* do it so I don't see using Shadow-Keeper or <CNTRL>-<SHFT>-8 as a cheat. You *are* supposed to be the son or daughter of a god, right?

P.S. I *do* think that using SK to give stats *higher* than you could roll is a cheat, however.

Ninety is certainly a pretty good roll...I'm usually pretty happy to take a 90, but I have rolled higher many times, but only like 92, 93, maybe 94...and I've spent some pretty good time rolling, too, let me tell you!

Hey Izgoth, correct me if I'm wrong, but don't SubTerran's stats there add up to 88? Maybe you meant *94* in your post.

How long has anyone sat there and rolled stats, anyway? HONESTLY, now!!! I know I've spent a good couple hours before...

One thing it seemed to me is that I would get more high rolls on the Baldur's Gate I engine than I do in SOA, maybe that's just wishfull thinking, but then if you include the tomes stat increases that you can get in BG, it makes some sense to start a new character from there. Powergamer's delight, anyway, because you play your character as a straight fighter (no kits, use any armor you want) until the end of BG, then when you import you pick the Kensai kit! Oh dag! I should have posted this on the CHEESE GUILD Thread!!!!
May you walk on warrrrm sannd....

I'd suggest using ShadowKeeper to drop a few points off your charisma, and add 'em to your strength. No cheats, just repairing an error.
