I wanted to mention a couple of strange things that I've noticed, or rather a couple of "glitches" that I've run acrossed in SoA and see if anybody else has experienced these and for any possible advice on how to resolve them <aaaahh...breathe>.
#1 - The Green Amulet: I picked it up off one of the two Githyanki in the Five Flagons Inn during the quest for Lissa's (Jan's ex-girlfriend) daughter. Anyway, I can't do anything with it. Once it's in my inventory, I can't move it, give it to anybody or sell it. When I attempt to move it to someone else's inventory it says something to the effect of "This item cannot be removed". I didn't put it on, it's just sitting in my inventory, so I doubt it has anything to do with a curse.
#2 - Trolls: I've noticed that at times if I've got several folks hacking on a Troll at the same time, it won't die. My assumption is, it has to do with the script for the Troll. The game won't allow the Troll to die until it has hit the ground and then hit by either acid or fire. Therefore if I have too many people constantly scoring hit points on the Troll, it never has the chance drop to the ground and finally die. I've actually counted taking 446 hit points on just a regular Troll before it even dropped to the ground.
#3 (and by far the most frustrating) - "<so and so> cannot speak with you at this time, as they appear busy": This happens when I attempt to speak to important character's vital to my current quest. I then leave the area, or building and then come back in and attempt to speak with them again. Sometimes that works and sometimes not. Now, most of the time I have to save the game and close completely out of the game and then reload it and then reenter the area before they'll speak to me. Very frustrating. This happened occasionally before I installed ToB but now it happens almost 50 - 60% of the time.
Anybody else have similar problems?
Strange goings on....
Strange goings on....
Mitch:You know, um, something strange happened to me this morning... Chris Knight: Was it a dream where you see yourself standing in sort of sun-god robes on a pyramid with a thousand naked women screaming and throwing little pickles at you?Mitch: No... Chris Knight:Why am I the only one who has that dream?
#3 is a well-known bug that occurs when you install Throne of Bhaal on a PC running Windows 2000 or Windows XP. It was fixed in the first (and only) Official Throne of Bhaal Patch.
As for #2, I've been having a similar problem with trolls. I think it might have something to do with the Improved Tor'Gal Mod or some other Mod. There's also another strange phenomen: sometimes a troll will be standing perfectly still, and if I put the cursor over him, I get a message saying the troll is "dead". If I hit it with fire or acid, it dies and I get the experience points, but if I hit it with a physical attack, it becomes "uninjured". Very strange.
As for #1, my guess is that the Green Amulet was used by the game designers to give the githyanki immunity to mind attacks, and it was supposed to be undroppable, but somehow it ended up on the ground when you killed them. When you picked it up, it was still considered to be an undroppable item. The only way to remove it is to use a saved game editor (or an item editor that will let you remove the "undroppable" flag).

Unfortunately the item isn't in the first slot.
@Vondondu: I think you're right about the undroppable item. The description of the item indicates that it is pretty powerful and something that the creators would be unlikely to allow a PC to have....
And I also wondered if I would be able to go into my character file on my hdd and alter my inventory. I guess I would need a kit installed to do that?

*** UPDATE ***
I loaded the ToB patch yesterday, and just like Vondondu said it appears to have fixed issue #3 (the problem with initiating dialogue with NPC's)
