TES Construction Set Books and items

Post by Master_Dragon »

Hello all,
I was just wondering about the TES Construction Set items and other whatnot. I wanted to create some new books to put in my cathedral/temple, but the art (meshes or bookart) isn't there! I see the art files that make the book what it is, like the Book of Dawn and Dusk, but those are already put there. I don't know how to bring up premade ones so I can create my own book of toil for the cathedral. could any of you help me?
btw, there's no bookart files or anything in the data files for the TES, and I don't know where else to look for them, unless there's a mod out there I haven't heard of yet. I don't spend alot of time on the internet....
please help

You know that second disc that came with the game? That's all the resource files you need. I drop all of it on my hard drive for simplicity sake. That way I don't need to dig out the disc to import them into the toolset. However, pop disc 2 into your drive, and there should be an "Import" or "load file" function in there somewhere. I'm without my game to refresh my memory, I loaned it out so that's as best as I can recall at the moment. Hope that helps. ;)

Honestly? I dragged the whole main folder on the disc onto my desktop. You can have it anywhere. Just make it easy to find, so when you go to load it up you don't have to dig around for it. Right off the disc will work, but I stuck mine on my HD for ease of use.

There's a LOT of stuff in there. Everything in the game is in there. It's categorized to make it a little easier, so I don't remember if books have their own subsection or if they are thrust in with "miscellaneous" or another object category. Once you load everything up (should be File->Load Data or File->Import Data...I can't recall which), dig through until you find the books in the lists of objects so you have a reference. Then you should be able to just right click somewhere and choose "create new object" and make what you want.

I may be off though, I haven't played in months and I've gotten used to the Neverwinter Nights Toolset the last 7 months or so. I did weeks worth of tinkering to figure out the Morrowind set though...

oh yay! now.... the book stuff is all in the misc. items... of which I shall work with later, but the books are all...oddified. You know, the 'fancy' text that they use in some of the books, and the pictures. how does one upload those? i mean, the regular books have things like <BR> and <DIV ALIGN "CENTER"...> things like that. how do those things work? they're ODD.

That, I can't help with. I've never bothered with the books. Just with tinkering with new weapons, armor, races and birthsigns.

Books are hard to tinker with, or so I'm just finding out. Now, writing the book is going to be a little harder....
thanks for your help!

Your welcome, and good luck with that. You may be able to find some mods with more books somewhere, someone else may know where to go for that *cough*Fable*cough*. :)

Never any rest for the wicked... ;)

If you just want to enter new books in the game, consider the mod Writing Enhanced. It allows you to buy blank books and paper from booksellers. You can then write, append, title, and erase your own books in the game. Another mod, Morrowind Enhanced, is required to run, first. It also acts as a platform for such mods as Combat Enhanced (which adds advanced combat moves to the game) and Journal Enhanced (which allows you to add notes to your journal).

No wonder I never get any sleep... :o

Hmm...maybe I should take my game book and try out some of these mods myself. The combat one sounds like it could be interesting.
