Another Shadow Ruins Victim

I am stucked in the room with the floating platforms and the poisened water.
Is there any pattern or trick that I can use to cross these?

Sorry. You just have to... jump over not touching poisoned water and do it all quickly before gate closes. I usually tried to jump on the 1st just as it was appearing and the 2nd wasn't there yet. Keep on trying. I spend a lot of time there myself.

But the next riddle... that crazzy (chess) game... I can give you an answer for that. It's pretty easy but anoying. Area look like that:
1 2 3 4
A [] [] [] []
B [] [] [] []
C [] [] [] []
D [] [] [] []

Now step on: D1 C1 C2 C3 D3 D2 C2 B2 A2

ok tks phaet but I saw there was an answer an the forum about jumping over the platforms you have to jump over them as soon you enter the room when the four platforms are up.

I am still trying, but is the pattern different for version 1.1 than version 1.0

Hi Phaet when i step on b2 i cant go anyware because the athena chessman is in the way how the heck do u get 2 a2 without one of the guardians attacking u? i followed your chart exactly like u said but i can get 2 a2 so if u made a mistake can u plz tell me as im stuck on this part.

It's a bit tricky.

You have to wait for a while until all four platforms are up at the same time.
Afterwards all will go down and the seemingly-random sequence will start over again.

Don't Wait! As soon as all platforms go down, wait for a few seconds and then jump to the first platfrom as if goes up, and then just jump from one to another. This time they will go in the right order.

I fell several times nontheless, so it may still take you some time...

Sorry, my mistake. I missed a few. Here's the correct order:
D1 C1 C2 C3 D3 D2 D1 C1 C2 B2 A2
at least I think so

Ok I passed the poisened water en the chess room. Now I went through the rune gate and there are 3 shadowgates in front of me. I used them all 3 but I allways end in the same corridor via the floating islands. In the corridor are firespitting walls and there are 2 platforms that I suppose must be raised, but I can't find any levers to pull.

Oh before I forget, a little tip for fighting the shadow beasts, put on your gas mask you found in the naga temple so they can't stun you with their poisened breath.

Thanks Phaet, i got the correct sequence almost right after i posted. I just fooled around with it and ya your memory is right thats the right sequence.

Now im finished the whole shadow ruins part of the game. Pain in the ass to take on the boss wasnt it! i had to revive 5 times to do it!!!!

for Haarbal, when you enter the corridor use the statue on your right, it will raise the platform for a short periode. Then quickly jump and in the middle of the corridor you will find a lever to raise the second platform.

Thanks for this tip, it made life easy. Still stuck in the Shadow Realm, but at least I am done here.

A couple of cents to the original post "stucked in the room with the floating platforms and the poisened water":

1. I have used Slow Time, and it works just fine for me. The only problem is
with the timing of spell casting - it is not immediate.
2. Failing in the water does not deactivate the gate itself - it is just get
activated for a period of time. So jump across and don't save there, just
run for the gate.
