Quick lvls and advancement points early in the game

Post by Dantoine »

Alright to do this your gonna have to be able to get to Skuldon ok when you get there stay on the path until you see a pretty good size building should be about middle ways of the place this is the Arena not Vartuggs place if thats what your thinking anyhow go to the small hut on the Right of the Arena where a Thrall is standing behind a counter I think his name is Ticket master Yugi, anyhow if you talk to him he will give you three choices of fighting I think they where Swamp Beast useless to fight just a wolf, and the second is a thrall also useless to fight and the last and third one should be The Gladiator its a Minotaur,he can be a pain in the rear end in a fight so I would reccomend having your skillls up some,no need for real high anyhow he uses three differnt weapons a Mace that is his hardest weapon to fight him with a Axe not to bad and a Sword easiest of the fights with him. Each time you killl him he will give you 30600 exp and 30600 Advancement points in my point a view at a low lvl thats pretty damn good, since he's ten times easyer than a War Troll, warning though it does cost 500 gold each fight and I would reccomend buying a few shields to block with becasue he can be a pain without a shield but he does drop a heavy shield thats pretty good just throw some Advancement Points on Heavy Shield if you have it and theres no worrys, hope this helps any of you lower lvls out there.

Er...I'm no grammatarian, but a little punctuation wouldn't hurt. I can't tell a damn thing you're trying to say, as your whole post is one long run-on sentence. :p

Also, you spelled your own username wrong...it's Dantooine... :D

-_- Was kinda in a hurry when I wrote, and my username isnt spelled wrong yes i know its off star wars some planet or something like that. Anyhow what I mean Is You have to be able to go to Skuldon to do this. All you have to do is make your way to Skuldon and stay on the path when you get into the fortress.
About middle ways on the path you should see a large circular looking building and a small hut with a thrall in it. Walk up to the hut and speak to him his name is Ticket Master Yugi I belive, anyhow should have three differnt fights you can choose from. The first two are pretty much useless fights unless your bored and just wanna see what they are,the fight you wanna take on is the Gladiator which is a Minotaur. The fight should cost 500 gold to take on each time hes not really all that hard, every once in a while he can turn into a serious pain but not often. He's 10x weaker than the War Trolls and gives 30600 exp and 30600 advancement points.
I would reccomend having your skills up a little before attempting to fight him because like I said he still can be a pain, and if you can afford it buy a few shields since he can break them after a few battles.

I really hope this sum's it up better than my upper writing was just in a hurry since I was getting tired which I still am -_-, anyway good luck and happy hunting :D

I'm on my second time through the game, this time as a fighter (actually Fighter / Adept / Knight / Paladin / ?).

- In the 'Trial of the Ancients', if you can get the Banshee 'stuck' somewhere, and survive the constant barrage of Elven Ghosts, it can be worth ~495,000
- In the Shadow Ruins, those four 'Athena Blockers' can be taken out from a slight distance (go to the 'corner' next to their platform) for >450,000 each ... that's good even later on.
- Once you have some good frozen weapons (Winter anything) ... go Drake hunting ... they become easy and are worth 300,000 each.

Banshee works well. I made SO much experience in that area, though. It doesn't even really take all that much work if you've got a decent character.

I killed the banshee straight on. I just ran whenever she cast her spell that pulses you away, or when an archer/warrior came along, and killed the archer/warrior and went back to beating on her. I had the flaming elven sword which does pretty good damage when your weapon skill is over 5. It took awhile but it was worth it.

I also killed the first master in that trial (the one that shoots arrows from the pillars). How? When I reached him, instead of jumping onto his perch and making him disappear, I stood on the pillar closest to the perch and started hitting him with my sword. He pulled out his own sword, but he couldn't quite reach me, and he would keep getting pushed back from my fire but would come back to me for more. Little by little I wore him down till he died, I think it gave more exp than that banshee even.

Lastly in the room with the advancing platforms when you get to the end (in the trial) there's another master who has a lot of health. You can step on the blue thing to make him disappear, but I just backed him against the wall and kept slashing at him with my sword till he fell. It took awhile and a few healing potions but again, the end result was worth it.

and yeah! in case nobody has noticed you get one advancement point for every point of experience. :D

in regards to the minatour, by the time i made it down to skuldoon i could whoop his butt without a sweat. i'd back him into a corner every time. of course, it helped that character's speed and agility were high so i'd score 4 hits and a combo in a row, i'd block his hits and whack him some more. at best, he'd score a hit or two and maybe throw me back a little even if i were blocking. unless one has a winter weapon, it's a lot less time and effort to kill this minatuar 10 times than to kill a fire drake.

I might add that after each fight in arena with the Gladiator you should go to the sorcerer wich is very near and sell the weapon of the gladiator wich can value from 200 gold (axe, sword) to 2000 gold (club) so that you'll have a great part of the money for the next round. At the sorcerer you have also the campfire where you can regain life(press action button at the campfire).

I think I got something on the order of 800,000 points for killing the Elven Elder that you run into during the Elven Trials. This is the guy you run into after you kill the banshee. Took about the same amount of time as the banshee.

And, for my money, the best early experience sponge are moonbeasts. Almost 19,000 points each. They respawn (dragons don't at the breeding grounds and just spawn rarely and randomly elsewhere), the don't cost gold to fight, and you don't need special equipment to fight them i.e. a weapon with freezing touch. You also don't have to use their weak AI to kill them, like with stuck dragons. At level 11 I can kill about 40-50 in an hour and glom around 775,000 to 950,000 adv points. Its wild battling too. Facing off against 8 or so moonbeasts is a real test!

I found easy xp too

yeah, i noticed all the peeps talking about ways of gainin massive xp, well, moonbeasts are ok, but you got to kill a lot to make a difference, and some of the bosses, are just one time boosts, so far, rock chunnlers are the best way to gain xp, i used duel wild tatics against it, and the swarm they spit out doesnt really harm me, killing one gives me about 38k in xp, and them giant toads respawn often in the northern steppes, so it the place i use to gain xp. Alas, I am stuck, the messenger will not fall from the sky and i am about to toss the game out the window or resell it on ebay, if the new patch do not come soon. It sucks though, i have a lvl 19 urgoth fighter/samurai/hatamoto who just likes to flip, lol.

one more thing, escorting

if you escort anyone who has been imprisoned to their "dissapearance point", that is not part of your missions, you gain a healthy chink....er chunk of xp, 10k of xp.

Regarding the Minotaur in the Arena

Just for Info, if the Minotaur attacks you with the Heavy Mace, you can sell it for 1400 Gold at Vartuggs Fortress. Easily recovers the 500 Gold for the game not to speak of the experience.

Dependend on your Honor and Bargain skill it can be up to 2200 pieces of gold (Honor 53, Bargain lvl 5). But mostly I got the sword or the axe from the minotaur at Skuldoon.

VERY early in the game

Early in the game – sounds relative. How about VERY early in the game – just after leaving Fargrove towards Arindale for the first time in the game ??
I hate being beaten by dozens of critters like wolves, thieves aso. Also taking massive healing potions is not my best strategy. I feel much safer having at least SOME ;) advantage over those characters in the game (single player) with less AI than I (hopefully) have.
Bur the trick itself is: monsters (in general) do not attempt to enter the gate area of west Fargrove. Perhaps with two main exceptions. First – ranged units – they do not require entering the gates, they can deal with you remotely … Second in general are: goblins and overcrowded spawns.
There is no 100% rule but most of the spawns will stop on the invisible line of outer city wall so that you can await them with your sword outside. When there comes a lot of them (wolves, thieves) the line seems do form a circle – they still do not enter. Sometimes one or more of visitors is pushed inside the gates by a magic eruption of his companion – then either you deal with him in the “gate house” or enter the city – the spawns will disappear after you come back. If you prefer you can use your ranged weapons from a safer distance and then collect the goodies.
Forgot to mention that to play this trick it is good to set “more spawns” and “hard monsters” in the option menu. If you stay long enough at the gates eventually some more expensive monstas arrive – I had twice troll visitors – they came along with wizards of some kind – since my character level was poor I tried to use their own magic against them (straffing left and right within the gate house). Each time one of the wizards was knocked into the gates, killed him quickly but foolishly wanted to grab his stuff with SHIFT key – that ended with entering Fargrove again – what a pity – trolls would be a good supply of exp/adv points.
This trick worked also for luring the Marauder and his companions.

How about even earlier. You can kill the Troll in Fargrove (with the help of the guards) for a whopping 59.000XP

Troll in Fargrove

Whoa !!! Just pay 5 gold and make him angry ?? Then run towards wandering guards and "help" them with ranged weapons ?? Gaining experience by letting other do the job for you ... This is the best tip of all :> BTW are the guards immortal ?

 1. You can actually kill the Troll by yourself thanks to the bad AI in the game.
 2. You don't even need to pay 5 Gold. Just hit the Troll :)
 3. Yes, Guards seem to be immortal
In the 'Trial of the Ancients', if you can get the Banshee 'stuck' somewhere, and survive the constant barrage of Elven Ghosts, it can be worth ~495,000

Mike
Talking about Banshee. I found out that getting her stuck isn’t that easy and killing here with ranged weapons is boring (and takes too much time).

If you can survive the direct attack of banshee then there is a quicker way. Push here in one of the spawning points up against the wall. Run towards her when you slash her with your sword, axe or whatever. It seems that when you are really close she does not use her spell so much. For most of the time she just stands there when you bash her.

As for elven spirits. They will spawn somewhere fare from you (in other rooms) or in this room next to you. So turn around and kill the elve without stepping back from Banshee.

Using this technique I killed Banshee in about 5-7 minutes and had additional experience from killing ghosts.

P.S. Has someone killed last elder (the Wizard)? I couldn’t. How many experience is for him?
Sorry for my bad Eanglish :(
