empty dialog boxes?

ok, I just got Tob, and starting a multyi player game w/ someone, BUT all the dialog boxes are blank, I've installed the w2k patch, then the other patch, ah now what?

Did you have any third party patches installed before you installed ToB?

OK, this is my installation summary

I had SoA installed but re-installed my os some time ago (installed the patch off interplays website back then too). I did put in two files in the over ride, the two special eddition vendors. Well I started playing again and now got ToB, however it didn't see SoA installed so I re-installed it w/ deleting it.

Everything seamed ok so far, now installed the w2k patch listed on interplays website and went to play with someone. At this time I did notice something "odd", where looks like something should be written but not. But anyways we couldn't play, found out I needed that 2nd patch to play with him, so I installed that, everything peachy so far right? Well we are able to play but every dialog option that opens is blank with the continue/done button on the bottem.

I checked with SoA and I can still see dialogs.

This is one of those games where I do not want to re-install.(how many cds ???? and forcing you to see the minut long movie)

But anyways, did I do something wrong? There was no documentation on the patches, and no error of any sort.
