Kotor2 cheats?

After beating the game 4 times without any sort of cheats or hints i've decided to mess around with some hacks just for fun. But now i can't get them to work. Mainly i just want the cheat to give you certain items. I checked on the web and have modified my kotor2 folder to enable cheats. But now i cannot get the command to work. Can anyone with expirience in this help me out. The command line that i have been trying (as found on gamespot.com) is giveitem. E.g - giveitem (name of item ex. a_robe_23).

Any help would be appreciated.

IIRC, you have to hit <space> or <enter> once you enable the console, assuming you modified the kotor2.ini file accordingly.

So the command should be (and you won't see your typing),

~ <space> giveitem a_robe_23 <enter>

Then check your inventory.

I'va also completed the game several times, and would like to try to cheat

So i've tried to do as everybody says... but i can't get the cheats to work... once I hit space, it just pauses, and if I type a cheat, the letters just work as shotcuts to the charactersheet etc.
-and i guess that is not supposed to happend...?

(and i've submitted the sentence like "enable cheats" in a txt-something... so i don't think that is my mistake...)
