I finally got the Elder in the Pillar Room, the first one ... it took forever, but it was worth it. I managed it by standing at the end of the first broken pillar lying on the floor by the entrance and just pounding him with the bow until he went down. He couldn't get a shot at me from that angle so saved a lot of health potions.
So now how do I get to the second room or trial? Jump up on the pillars and go through one of the doors? Which door, one faces north and one faces south.
I'd appreciate a good push.
Elders' Trials - Second Room
You have to jump on the pillars. You can only get to one of the rooms at the start, but inside is a panel you can step on to lower a pillar so you can get to the second room, etc.

Sir Edmund: "Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?"
Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

You actually beat the spirit? I didn't think you could beat it. It must have taken forever. Anyway, you don't really need to. Just jump up the pillars, and when you reach the spirit just jump on him. He'll disintergrate when you touch him. Then walk into his alcove and step on the blue circle - that will drop the next pillar, and then repeat for the next two elders in the alcoves. You never neeed to fire a shot. Half their arrow missed me anyway, I never used a health potion, and I admittedly suck at the game.
BTW, if you happen to have a "slow time" crystal (or whatever that is) it might be very helpful if you are having a tough time.

It was not easy, I did a lot of running around. Finally, I backed myself into a corner and let her approach and withdraw, back and forth. She seems to have, not exactly set, but somewhat of a pattern. While she was doing this I was able to wear her down. Only every once in a while would she attack. In the meantime, her minions didn't come around, although I could still hear them, which helped a lot as I didn't have to cope with them.
Actually, I got the first three, but I was getting very low on health potions, and just wanted to get out of there.
I'm in Fathien's Tomb, got the two levers, and am trying to find the armor.

i found a way to actually beat that banshee easily.
lure her inside the corridor you come through and corner her. once she is there, lay the smack on her and block. you *CAN* block her damaging spell.
i get 4 hits on her than a combo and then i start blocking. after her spell fades out i hit her again with the 4 hits and combo.. repeat until she is dead.

Out of curiousty, has anybody else been able to block the banshee's spell? I was playing around trying to kill the banshee, but blocking didn't help me any. I was using a medium shield with a skill of 6.

A quicker way to kill the Elder in the Pillar room is to jump up on the pillars and go to last one before the corridor. He will change to sword and if yours is longer - 6' 0" did the job - then you can whack away while he just stands there. You may have to take a step back or forward to find the right spot.
