Assertation error
Assertation error
So I finally managed to get my hands on the original Baldur's Gate, and it works just great, untill I try to leave a map, then the game crashes, and I get a message saying there was an assertation(sp?) error. This happens every time I try. I have the 5 disc version on full install with the newest patches, but those didn't seem to make a difference. i tried to re-install, but that didn't work either. Do anyone have a clue as to how I should fix it??

*bump*
Well, after months of ignoring the game I tried again, still no luck... Do anyone have any ideas? the error message is as follows:
"An Assertion failed in D:\Dev\chitin\ChiVidImage.cpp at line number 1072"
This happens EVERY SINGLE TIME I leave the map, meaning that I can get no further that to the forest right after candlekeep (I get out of candlekeep because you don't leave that area yourself, gorion walks you out of it)
*sobs quietly*

Yeltsu,
I got that message when I first bought the game about 5-6 years ago also, in the exact same spot too, right outside of Candlekeep. I was on Win98. I just uninstalled the game and deleted all folders then reinstalled the game. Never happened again.
Though it wasn't too much longer after that that I imaged my hdd with WinME and had to reinstall it again.

Mitch:You know, um, something strange happened to me this morning... Chris Knight: Was it a dream where you see yourself standing in sort of sun-god robes on a pyramid with a thousand naked women screaming and throwing little pickles at you?Mitch: No... Chris Knight:Why am I the only one who has that dream?

Well, if you installed the game from D:, it will look for the cd at D:, so you have to keep it there.
The first thing I would try is reinstalling. I know you say you have done it before, but this time rather then do another Full, try doing the compact one. Try this and report back the results.

not that I can ever remember installing tosc, but I borrowed that from a friend, and now it works!!!Line 1072
This will occur if Tales of The Sword Coast has been previously installed, the save games have been converted, but upon reinstallation of Baldurs TOSC was not reinstalled. You will need to install TOSC to utilize the save games that have already been converted.
