Tomb or Souls

I am in the Tomb of Souls and have opened the door that required the crystal of evil. I entered this door (the crystal created a yellow beam of light that shines on the door) and as I went across the bridge it fell away. I can't jump that distance and the door on the other side has an iron gate anyway. What should I do?

Heres a hint

Didnt want to spoil it for you, so heres a hint to get you going again..
You need to explore some other areas near that spot carefully, there is a way to raise the bridge again so you can cross it.

when you fall into the water open the middle treasure chest it has a key that you need. This unlocks the door in the statue room that blows streams of fire. Walk through that door and there's a button push it and the game continues where you can go back over that floor that opened up. You can now walk across it and fight Vortuss for Vortugg's eyeball. Open the treasure chests first before you fight...good things in those chests.
