How do I get started?

Post by bariumdose »

Hello,

I was surfing for D&D info and came across this forum. How does one get involved in online D&D? Where do I sign up? What are the prerequisites?

Online D&D groups exist mostly in mIRC channels, or forums, the prerequisites are generaly the ability to role play and basic know how of the D&D rules, usualy 3rd edition.

Other requirements vary based on the group you play with.

Theres a story starting at the Forum Member RPGs.
It's played in the Drangonlance setting.

I have high expectations of it, check it out, it should be fun.

*beams* Thanks Rob-hin. :D I've been wondering what some of you guys who actually play regularly think of my game as I've never actually done this before. :o

You can feel free to look it over and if you want, join in as well. Ask any question's you have in that thread, or PM me if that makes you more comfortable. :)

That's a shame, but educations is more imporant. It'd be nice having a player that's familiar with the game rules. Still, either way I'm new at running or playing a game so it's new for everyone. :)

If this campaign runs well, I'll probably start a new one afterwards, or if it ends up going on for a while, maybe double on a second one if there's enough people wanting in on a game.

Hi all

I'm new here, but it looks great.
Sure enough, I'm looking for a game too. I live in Holland (or the Nehterlands, same thing). If anyone knows a RL gamegroup there with room for a player, please, but I'm also checking out online playing.
I got involved on a forum in a few games, but the forum "died" so I move on.
Is there a game starting here soon or somewhere else? And, following a positive answer, can I join in, do you think?

-currently I'm only familiar with my own world (I'm DM too) and FR and have acces to all core books and some supplemental books of 3rd ed

Cheers

I'm currently running a Dragonlance Campaign if the "Forum Member's RPG" thread. I have two player's who are unfamiliar with the D&D system, this is my first time running or playing a game, but I've done research on a few RPG's in an attempt to create my own for years. You can feel free to check it out in that forum. If you think you'd like to join, you'd be welcome to.

I was trying to reason out what to do with just having 2 player's, it didn't quite fit my campaign, so either way I'll have to adjust things if I add other's in, or have to adjust my player's character's to "beef them up" and make them fit better. It'd be nice having a player familiar with the basic game rules to help them out as well if possible. :p

OK, without any info on the campain itself, I'd like to join :)

I do need however some basic info on the races and classes allowed and which calsses are already played. I usualy make fine magic and/or stealth users, so if that option is available....

But to the point, do you know a webpage where I can get the info quickly?

Secondly:
what level, etc.

I don't know of any pages with dragonlance info unfortunately, if you read through my thread which Rob-hin posted a link to at the top of this thread, that's a place I'll answer what questions you have so I don't spam up this thread. :)
