This is really getting annoying (sound problems)

Post by 7hir7een »

Okay, I've wanted this game since it came out, but I never had a computer with anywhere near the requirements. But just recently I invested in an alienware laptop, and to my dismay, V:tM is malfunctioning on it. Random times, when i click on the shortcut and the game loads, the sound suddenly stops working on my computer (it would work before running the game, and needs the computer restarting to work again).

I have played through a bit with the sound, um, screwed up, because I got tired of restarting, as I don't think I should have to put up with this on this computer. The interesting thing I've noticed, is not only does the sound not work, but when npc's are supposed to be talking, their mouths don't move... it's really weird.

Anyway, I've tried a few things, and the error seems to possibly be with directsound... It's like the game is somehow disabling it or causing it to crash. I don't know.

Does anybody have any ideas to solve this problem and/or has been experiencing a similar problem? This doesn't happen all the time, but when it does it's really obnoxious (I hate having to restart). Thanks for any help you can give!

Did you tinker with the sound files ? Like playing the mp3 files in the music folder, because usually the sound/music doesn't work correct anymore after you played those files.

Otherwise, update your soundcard drivers to the latest version, and try a clean reinstall.

Nope, didn't do anything to the sound files.

I already have the updated driver, and already tried reinstalling the game after reinstalling the driver... Still the same thing.

The computer had never done this until I installed Bloodlines, and it only happens random times when I run Bloodlines... It's kinda crazy

Can you tell us some stuff about your laptop's sound card? You may have to do some snooping in the Device Manager.
