Well a bit earlier when I was playing, I killed off all the slave traders etc, without initiating the quest, then when I went back to Hendak for my reward, he asked me if I was interested in killing all the slave traders! I initiated the quest, went back to the slave ship, then came back to him and he still only will initiate the quest!? I really want a reward and I hear that without that quest I can't ever purchase Azure Edge from him in the future. What can I do? I am a good 5 or 6 hours past that quest in my gameplay! Thanks for the info and advice,
Horatio

That's weird...
Both times I've played through BGII I've killed the slave traders first. What should happen is that he should give you the quest. Then, in the same conversation, there should be an option saying you already killed them. Did you free BOTH of the slaves and kill the captain?

Lost Souls: A bereft lover. A masterless familiar. Friends gone their separate ways. Time marches on, and destiny heralds the meeting of comrades old and new. Can they find what they're seeking? Or will the search bring them only more pain?
I remember freeing two slaves, I think in the area of the ship behind the captain battle, but I cant remember exactly. All I know is I surely freed whatever was there, and killed whatever was there as well...But I looked through conversation menus and havent seen that before, so I will try it again the next time I visit the Copper Cornet, but for now I have a few quests to do before I go back there...I'll keep you guys updated...What is the exact conversation choice? Thanks,
Horatio

There are two areas to clean out for the quest. On my first run-through, I did it your way: I took out the ship's slave traders, first. Later, I went through the hallway in the Copper Coronet that leads past the opium den, past the entrance to the tunnels below, and finally out into a large hallway where you're told to leave at once. *That's* the other slave traders' area. You need to clean out the guards, free the slaves, go into the arena and through into the animal pen, where you'll find the Slave Master. Kill him, then follow out the lead slave (whose name I forget) and help him kill the owner of the Copper Coronet. That will complete the quest for you.

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
Actually yes, I defeated the guys in the ship and also whooped the beast master, freed the guy - who gave me a discount at his store for doing it, and I can't get the prize..like I said I will try again when I return to the place, and hopfeully I will find the dialogue option that gets me the prize. I'll keep you all updated, anyway thanks for the help,
Zach

Hey I just checked back at the slaver ship, walked around and didn't find anything new except a few more slavers, but as I was about to leave I got curious about the troll room so I walked into it a bit deeper and found the last little girl! I finished the quest...but have yet to find the benefit! Thanks for the help,
Horatio

You may want to check under "finished quests" in your log to see if it lists the slavers' quest as done. If it is, then just the messaging is the problem, and you've already gotten the experience.
