Snowfall at De'Arnise Hold

Post by Mangle Me Elmo »

In all the years I've been playing this game, I've never seen this happen until a couple days ago. When I went to the keep for the first time with my newly installed Valen mod, there was light snowfall outside, in the beginning of Mirtul (May). The only other time I've seen it snowing in the game was in the new areas added by TDD (which i later uninstalled due to numerous bugs). I just thought it was cool that Bioware might have programmed another weather effect besides rain into SOA. Of course, it was the beginning of May, and Amn is a southern country, so it didn't make much sense, but was still amusing. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

I can't say I can remember it happening. What mods have you installed?
In memorian: Fiona; Ravager; Lestat; Phreddie; and all of those from the 1500 incident. Lest we forget.

Currently, I just have the Valen mod installed. I did have The Darkest Day at one time, but it was way too buggy with the Valen mod (TDD unique characters would desplay dialogue boxes with nothing in them, preventing me from playing further).

this is normal for it to snow during the game. It was built in originally with the game. I have no mods and it snows every once and a great while but it is pretty cool when it does.

I have played through one unmodded and three modded versions of SOA and ToB and I have yet to see it snow... was actually thinking about it the other day. My character misses the wild north most likely;-)

Best wishes; Palle

I think I've seen snow in BG2, but if I have, it's very rare. Snow is part of the BG1 game engine, and there's a lot of snow in BG1 when you head south of Nashkel. The Cloud Peak Mountains spring to mind. It probably depends on elevation.

Yes I remember a considerable bit of snow in BG1 :) But 'tis true I have not seen snow in Amn.
