What do you do with rune altars?
Down in skuldoon, the big blacksmith let me borrow his hammer but said it needs to be recharged at a rune alter. i went to the one in the forbidden zone and tried to "use" it but nothing happened. does anyone have a clue what we're supposed to do with them?

I'm pretty sure you can't upgrade the sword of flame. No idea about the hammer though; none of my characters have been strong enough to get it from the blacksmith.
Zed: Are you saying you've upgraded a weapon at one of the altars? Can you give an example of what works?

Sir Edmund: "Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?"
Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

Thorins Hammer can be upgraded at the Altar in the Forbidden Lands and, near Arindale you can upgrade the Crystal of emptiness (Celestial Quest?) to a Crystal of Light at the Altar of Diamond Light (near where the Drakes are).
Sword of Fire works without recharging and, the Barbtipped Runeblade seems not to change when you try charging it (NE of the Mooenbeast Island)
in order to get the hammer, you have to be a demigoth. the person that has the hammer will only give it to other demigoths. canidates are: wylan, zaur, urgoth, and thrall.
Yeah, the Hammer is only available to non-Aliance (i.e. Human, Elves and Dwarves), only the HORDES get it...LOL
