morphine, jewelery, and car stereos

Post by mab »

I'm carrying around quite a bit of these things. What is the purpose in picking them up? Will I be able to sell them? How do I do that?

Yes you can sell them. There's a merchent in each section of the city. Trip in Trip's Pawn Shop in Santa Monica; Phat Larry at his white truck at the parking garage downtown; the guy behind the counter at the Red Spot convenience store in Hollywood, and Tseng in Tseng's Remedies in Chinatown.

Tseng has one of my favorite dialogue options, by the way: "I need a remedy for a Tong problem... Something in a high caliber, maybe."

I went into Trip's a couple of times to try to pawn items, but the dialog didn't present the option. How does it work?

Follow the dialogue that lets you buy stuff. Once you're shopping, look at the upper left section of the screen. Your inventory will be there with some double arrows you can click on to cycle through different sections (armor, weapons, misc). Once you're in the right section, click on the item you want to sell. It's description will appear in the window on the center of the screen. On the bottom left of that window, click Sell.

You can give some morphine to Mercurio to ease his pain, but otherwise pill bottles, jewelry and car stereos are meant only to be sold.

On shuriken, leaf daggers, and manrikigusari

This is pure speculation, having never actually tried it, but five gets you ten that you can use such objects to throw for distraction, as well. Sometimes there just isn't a sardine can around when you need one. Sheer rampant curiosity rears it's ugly head, though. There is mention of throwing stars in the source code (I've never found one in the game). Has anybody tried throwing a knife or a sword *as a weapon*? (Of course you can throw a sword. I'm pretty decent with a Katana out to about five meters or fifteen feet.) There are projectile and melee, but I'm not aware if there are any weapons that can be used in both capacities.
