Morals
Morals
I was just talking to my friend and the subject of morals in the game world came up, so I pose the question. What sort of player are you? A noble warrior who helps all those poor helpless NPCs out in the wilderness? Or a cold hearted murderer who kills anyone who crosses him? As for myself I'm the latter, I can hardly count the amount of ordinators/guards/innocent wanderers that I have killed just for a few measely gold pieces.

Aren't there any other paths? And isn't a case, at least for some of us, of roleplaying?
I play the equivalent of a spellsword, but with my choice of skills. My character will steal everything he can from those he deems corrupt or evil, but leaves good folk alone--except for books, which he collects obsessively. He will help those who appear to deserve it, but if they come to harm through their own actions, doesn't go out of his way to rescue them. (Translation: if the idiot AI can't keep a following merchant from falling in the river while my PC tries to perform his quest, I could care less.)

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
Cold-hearted killer. That old lady outside Caius' house in Balmora when you first find out about the blades? Yep, beat her until she passes out unconscious for a few days until I build up my hand-to-hand skills and then just cut her to ribbons. Every time.
I hop onto rooftops and lauch spells at those who wander into view.
Those horrid looking guards, I gut them and take their stuff. I steal, pillage, and kill everyone but the necessities. One or two merchants, and the people in the mages guild so I can still enchant things and make spells. Everyone else is chopped up and I stuff their things into houses for storage.

"You can do whatever you want to me."
"Oh, so I can crate you and hide you in the warehouse at the end of Raiders?"
"So funny, kiss me funny boy!" / *Sprays mace* " I know, I know, bad for the ozone"

I usually play a thieving Khajiit.
She will do anything for profit, unless it means betraying her friends. She's clever, and sneaky. She hates seeing Khajiits enslaved, and goes out to get those slave traders. She remains neutral to everyone else for most of the time, and never backstabs.
My other character is a Telvanni Breton. She hates going into combat, and leaves the dirty work for guards. She tries to avoid work at all costs, unless there's a nice pay at the end.

Ha, well yeah I was playing a new character and the gods of karma sought to punish me for my evil deeds in previous lives, that wimpy old women hit me and I got knocked out, then she pounded me to death, it was sad, it was a lingering death that took a good 10 mins. I had just started so had no potions or anything. But yeah Also tell of what kinda cool class of hero you are

I don't think it is possible to play the game as either a purely good or purely evil character.
Even with the nobelest intentions a good character finds themselves into commiting morally suspect acts stealing, killing etc. and although it is in the name of a good cause two wrongs don't make a right. Similarly a purely evil character at some point will unintentionally do some good.
Therefore I tend to have my characters react to whatever situation as I think I would. In terms of the stealing I carefully consider the motive of the person who wants me to steal something, who it is I'm stealing from and what good will come of it.
Killing is a little more complicated as while my characters will kill in self-defence I generally try to avoid taking any life unecessarily and concentrate on remaining unseen/deflecting attacks etc. My whole philosophy on life is live and let live (apart from the irredeemably evil)
To be honest I'm more drawn to quests/guilds that allow offer advancement without having to constantly kill people or steal from them.

I like to murder a villager in there home and then take nothing out of there house or body. Then I leave an Iron dagger on there bed. Sort of like the book "Chance's Folly" (found in the VIvec arena storage I think) where she leaves a pair dice every time she steals from a place.

I like to run around naked
In all seriousness, when I first played the game thorugh, I'd snatch anything and everything, kill anyone with anything of remote value. Now random killings are only out of interest, like seeing just how hard a royal guard is to kill with whatever weapon, etc. Theiving is again, mainly out of interest. Books are a favorite, as are items that I rarely come across. Fact is, I'd take a muck shovel in place of glass daggers, for example, simply because the amusement I get from gratuitously leaving muck shovels around, far outweighs the value of any gold I'd get for the weapon. When it comes down to it, I'm playing for my entertainment. Nothing More.

Mag: Don't remember much at all of last night do you?
Me: put simply.... No
Mag: From what I put together of your late night drunken ramblings? Vodka, 3 girls, and then we played tic-tac-toe and slapped each other around.

Well, I had a level 34 Impereal Crusader. I forgot what I was doing with her so I started another character that's a level 3 Nord Battlemage. The old one had great personality, but I like the new one. She's better because she has more maximum magica. With the old one I couldn't summon for a long time, so I ended up having to make custom spells that summoned the creatures for a shorter time.
Anyway, I free all the slaves I can; love doing it. I also love cutting up the slaveowners who think they're so tough that they need a slave to do work for them.
So far with my new character, I havn't slaughtered any masses of people. I am thinking about it though. Maybe the Dren Plantation. I will make good use of the Mark and Recall spells there, once I remember where to buy them.
I go about the world helping those seemingly good natured folks in need. Sometimes it pays off well, but I'm there for the adventures in the first place.
Yes, I do slice up the occasional ill-mannered ordinator, even though their armor/weapons are inferior. It still feels great pawning a dead ordinator's belongings.

I always try to complete as many quests as possible, so both good and evil.
Furthermore I try to kill all "bad people" and every valuable person that bothers me, I steal from merchants and sell their wares to other merchants.
When I've completed my stronghold (usually Redoran) I command creatures and strong NPCs to guard my cosy little home.

Do you need a silencer if you're gonna shoot a mime?
I've only gotten a stronghold once, and it was a Tevlanni one. Love those centurians.
