Guild/House restrictions

Post by BraveSirRobin »

I have a Breton mage\fighter custom character who is so far joined the Blades and Mages guilds. Is there any restriction from me joining any of the houses or any of the other guilds. I am aware of the fighter/theives guild conflict. I was looking at joining the Imperial Legion and House Televanni. Can I still join a house if I am not a dark elf? Any other guilds that I should do?

You can join any guild you want. The main confilict I am aware of is the one you've already mentioned.

You can join a single house regardless of race. So think about which one you'd like to join before you do it.

You can still obtain masterrank at the fightersguild without doing "anti-thieves guild" quests, just follow Persius Mercius' (Ald-Ruhn Fighters guild) advice. ;)

O.k. thanks. I thought I had read somewhere that you had to be a Dark Elf to join a guild but I must have been mistaken. Thanks.

The factions you mention wanting to join should be fine.

There is just one other minor conflict that comes to mind, spoiler, highlight below to read:

Make sure, if you plan to join the Thieves guild that you do the one Balmora Mage's guild quest involving 'unsantioned magic' first. If you are a thieve's guild member, you won't be able to complete that particular quest.

erm... yeah, the only conflicts in joining guilds are Fighter and Theives. And the stupid "one house only" rule. I would always have liked to bring the three clans together, united under the great rule of Feydirk the Godslayer! :D but at any rate...

Somewhere along the main quest you'll do something (vague description because I don't remember what it was :( ) that allows you to join house Hlaalu by asking the duke in Ebonheart, this happened to me when I was already master in house Redoran.
And this fighter-thieves conflict can be avoided by skipping the anti-thieves quests, you'll still get to be top-ranked in both guilds. ;)
