erm...try updating all your video drivers, and possibly setting your refresh rate to 60?..

I had this problem when I first purchased the game, and found NOTHING to solve the issue. The game crased about 5 seconds after I hit the "New Game" button....

I finally was able to play when I got a new computer. Hope you have more luck than I did.

Okay, this may not be the exact problem you are having, but it is something you can try. I have an LCD monitor that will not handle a refresh rate higher than 60Hz. This is only a problem the very first time you start up the game because, for some reaon known only to the computer gods, the default start up rate of the game must be higher than 60Hz, because I get a "video mode not supported" box bouncing around the screen. It will do this for a minute, and then roll into the opening credits (white wolf, nvidia, etc) which display fine and then go back to the error box.

The fix for this is to exit out of the game, go to the run command in your start menu, hit it, type in dxdiag, and then go to the "more help" tab, and then to the "override" button. Select the override option and type in 60Hz. Then start the game.

I found that once I got to the options menu and set my video mode to the native resolution for my monitor (1280 X 1024), I could then exit the game, go back into dxdiag and de-select the override mode and the game would now run with no problems.

Again, I'm not sure if this is your problem, but you might give this solution a shot.

Thanks for the tip. I dont have an lcd monitor but my old 17" monitor is set to 60Hz if I recall it correctly. When I get home I'll give it a shot.

Now it works as I made what you suggested. Althought I have to keep the override on every time I play VTM. The game itself runs as it should. Thanks!
