Formula for dealing damage

Post by gotic »

How can I calculate dealing damage with weapons? For example, I have a medium sword 2-7. What parameters (and how) does affect in value of resulting damage? Does skill "medium weapons" affects value of dealing damage?
It would be better if developers add special info "dealing damage" in characters stats, like strike or parry...

I don't think the weapon skills affect damage. I think they just prevent you from having a penalty.

So I think damage comes down to: the listed weapon damage, your strength bonus, and the enemy's armor.

SWC
Sir Edmund: "Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?"
Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

If resulting damage is affected by character's strength why this feature is not documented? As I know from game description, attribute "strength" affects only character's ability to wear different items :(

well you do have a damage attribute which goes up by +1 for ever point of strength over 25. Meaning you need 125 strength to get +100 damage without equipment. From what I can tell the damage attribute adds that much damage to your hits as a percent, such as your damage attribute is +25(50 strength) meaning your damage with the medium sword would be 2 to 7 +25%(of 2 to 7). Being a female character and joining at least one class of the sisterhood lets you do the first part of the war witch quest even if you plan to go to something other than war witch and results in a bracer that has +4 strike +20 damage on it. Really nice.

Thats good to know, thanks :)

I am having quite a difficult time with my all magic character. Probably because I am a typical melee player.

I think damage attribute doas more then add precentage of your weapons damage value. I have Blade of Death 11- 27 dmg and strenght 120 and damage atribute 100 (or somthing like that).

Calculating by Fiko's formula I would have to deal not more than 54. But the I have seen 72 damege from my dwarf. and the normal hit is about 60. Then again I have sriked with less then 16. So may be that You have to add +-20% of luck (random) to Fiko's formula to calculate your possible damage.

May be Heroism afects all this I have 43.
Sorry for my bad Eanglish :(

Some strike combos have damage bonuses which I think would account for some of your strikes exceeding the formula above. Plus you probably have some damage bonuses from heraldry and jewlery (rings, bracelets, etc) which account for the rest. None of these show up in your +damage attribute. You probably get strikes less then the formula due to creature armor or damage resistance. D
