It is not even announced to being produced yet. So that would be a very excat no.
This forum is just for the rumors that flew around some time ago about a possibliity of BG3, but nothing have been official about it (yet).

PCGamer had a d&d 30th Anniversary issue. Atari seemed to want to get all their games in this issue. NWN2 was announced a few weeks before this issue hit the stands and Atari said BG3 was in development. It had a one page blurb, which didn't say much. It hinted at it being a prequel and it gave no information of a developer. This was about 10 months to a year ago? (can’t remember anymore) Anyway this around the same time this forum opened, and the same happened at Sorcerers Place.

But we have heard absolutely no news about anything since then! I think it was a scam by Atari jumping the gun. Sure they want to do a BG3 someday, but it was not in development when they announced it. I would like to be proved wrong but I doubt the game is in development since there have been no leaks of any kind.

How is it a scam? No game development was announced, and no one in the industry figured BG3 was being done. I still do some writing in the industry and maintain contacts, and no one believed BG3 was being worked on. Nor have I encountered any publicity anywhere else that would lead me to think they were giving this out to the public, either.

I'm confused at what your asking Fable? Are you saying it wasn't a scam because Atari never said it was in development? Or it wasn't a scam because you believe Atari was correct in saying it was in development in the PCGamer magazine, and that was a surprise?

I missed one of your phrases, above: my apologies. Where did Atari say BG3 was in development? Can you quote the text? Because I monitor the industry mags, and none of them have ever mentioned that. It stands to reason that they'd have this info even before PC Gamer, which is a consumer mag.

Well I searched for about 20 minutes like crazy for a scan of the article and did not find it ( I would look longer but I want to get back to gaming lol!). I no longer own the issue, so I can't scan it. But it was October 2004 d&d 30th anniversary issue. Below is a scan of PC Gamer saying BG3 is in the next issue by Gamebanshee (best I could do). Also I'm posting a few gamebanshee links that talks about the hoopla when Grok opened his mouth by saying BG3 was an upcoming title (thread has since been deleted - gee I wonder why?). But gamebanshee got his quote. I posted quite a few times in this thread and we all thought he was full of it because he posted it on April fools 2004. But Grok said he wasn't joking a couple of days later in a thread when everyone said he was full of it. And then at the end of summer we got the PC Gamer issue confirming BG 3.

Also I posted a link of another forum of someone talking about the BG3 PC Gamer article (sorry it's all I could come up with).

btw, if anyone still owns this magazine, please scan it and post a link.
*please* :)

Anyway my initial point was I think they jumped the gun and just announced it without havinga developer signed up, and I think they still (over a year later) don't have a developer for BG 3. But I hope I'm wrong. :)
