Differences between double bladed and 2 singles/1 single.
Differences between double bladed and 2 singles/1 single.
Im sorta new to the game and I keep switching back and forth between a double bladed and 2 single bladed. Im wondering what the differences are between the two types of sabres. Also what is the advantage of using a single blade as opposed to 2 single blades. thanks
Difference between blades:
Double bladed lightsaber:
Damage: Energy 2-20
Critical threat: 20-20, x2
Lightsaber:
Damage: Energy 2-16
Critical threat: 19-20, x2
Short Lightsaber:
Damage: Energy 2-12
Critical threat: 19-20, x2
Balanced: +2/+0 vs. two-weapon penalty if used in the off hand
Sith Lightsaber:
Damage: Energy 2-16
Critical threat: 19-20, x2
So on average if you use 2 blades you'll deal more damage, score more critical hits and you have more options for customization of your blades.

single blade
+3 feats in dueling so
+3/+3 bonus
twin blades
-6/-4 penalty to double weapons but
+3 feats in two weapon fighting negates it to 0/0
extra attack per round
two extra slots for crystal -- 4 total

two slots for crystals -- but this doubles the effect of a very rare crystal like solari etc.
i've heard you should either be a single blade spec (w dueling)
or
twin/double specialist with master flurry (3 attacks per round)

If you use two lightsabers, you'll get more critical hits and have more options for customization, but you won't deal more damage, since both the regular and the short lightsabers deal less damage than the double-bladed. For dual-wielding to have the same accuracy as double-bladed, you'd need to use a short lightsaber in the off-hand. One attack with each hand would do 4-28 damage total, compared to 4-40 for the double-bladed. Dual-wielding is good if you want something like one keen with massive criticals, or one with extra blaster-bolt deflect, or one blue and one green because that looks cool, but I prefered putting my two most powerful crystals into one double-bladed, sort of doubling their use.

You are correct, I forget that double-bladed sabre deals damage twice so with "naked" blades double-bladed deals more damage.
But when you fully upgrade your blades (especialy if you play on PC and you get special crystals from Yavin) you will get better results if you go dual wield.

I guess it depends on what kind of "results" you're looking for. If you're looking for things that stack like blaster bolt deflection, then you'll be better off with two lightsabers. But if you're looking for lots of damage, double-bladed is definitely better. If at any point you can say, of one of your two lightsabers, "This one is better," and you wish you could have more than one of it, then you should go with the double-bladed. For instance, I'm quite fond of having a Solari with the Mantle of the Force (and you only get one of each), so I put them in a double-bladed, and it's kind of like dual-wielding a regular and a short lightsaber that both have the two crystals, only it does even more damage.
I say dual-wielding is indicative of indecisiveness, though I would understand if someone who had a great crystal combo for two lightsabers says I'm just uncreative.

The only use I've found for dual-wielding is to have a few blades :
Main Hand (Lightsaber)
- Anti-Droid Blade (Firkrann + Luxum)
- Light Side Blade (Solari + Upari)
- Non-Light Side Blade (Upari + Your Choice)
- Critical Hit Blade (Opila + Nextor or Krayt Dragon Pearl or Phond)
Off Hand (Short Lightsaber)
- Deflection Blade (Jenruax + Heart of the Guardian + Your Choice)
- Force Regeneration Blade (Mantle of the Force + Damind or Rubat + Your Choice)
Just switch between your blades when needed.
If you used almost all your Force Points, equip your regen blade.
If you encounter any droids, use your Deflection Blade with your Anti-Droid Blade.
If you're light side, your "main" blade will almost always be the (Solari + Upari) combo.

I believe its like they've said. Using a double blade, you will do more damage, and if you want to double the effect of a high damage adding crystal because it's like have two lightsabers using the same crystals. Flurry works best with Double blade.
Duel Single Blade Lightsabers. You can use more kinds of crystals here. I don't remeber what they all do, but crystals like the ones that reflect blaster shots are good here because you can use more of them. Critical Strike is more likely with single blades so it's best here.
Two-handed Single Blade. You have a higher chance of hitting your opponent now I think (if you don't I see no point of Two-handed) Power Strike could become very useful here. I suppose critical strike could aslo, but I don't think you would have any higher chance of making a critical strike with Two-handed Single Blade as you would with Duel Single Blade. So I think this jedi would be using powerstrike or mostly jedi powers.

Always remember you're unique ... just like everyone else.
